I find a good crisp braeburn to be absolute god tier, but if they're old they can have a really shit texture. If they feel very firm you should be good to go, but why the fuck don't you just buy a couple apples from a few varieties when you go shopping and make the decision yourself?

Imo high quality Fuji is the best if you like sweet apples, the cheap ones are kind of shitty though.
