Personally, I like bourbon in my eggnog. Other whiskeys are good too. Rum works, whether dark or light, but I'd avoid the spiced and/or coconut flavors. Brandy is possibly the most "classic" add in. A coworker of mine swears by Bailey's Irish Cream in her eggnog.
