You could age a homemade IPA, barleywine, wine or mead in it. I priced oak barrels one time and they're fucking expensive. But I guess you've saved a good deal of money skimping on your home entertainment system, since you still have a VCR.

Soak the shit out of it before you put anything in it. I got one a few years ago and soaked it for a few hours like suggested, put white whisky in it to be flavored, and ended up with only about 1/8 the whisky I started with.

Now it's dried up and sitting in my closet. Neat gimmick, but not really good for anything IMO.
