I agree that much sugar wasn't necessary, I wouldn't have added the one cup of white sugar, but I kept waiting for an "entire jug" of sugar to come in and that didn't happen.
3 cups of sugar is not a completely crazy amount for cookies. They're sweets, they're supposed to have sugar. It's not like one person is supposed to eat all the cookies.
