Do you like Nattō beans?
>>8388572
They're OK, but nothing special. Much to the surprise of my Japanese friends I didn't outright hate them though!

NattO
>>8388572
It's alright. Tastes like burnt cheese.
>>8388572
yes i do
it is the marmite of glorious nippon
i made a batch myself before, and ate with rice for many days

Looks like a dog swallowed whole beans and threw them up.
Seriously, looks like mucus and saliva all around.

so whats the best way to describe this? i mean it can be worst than the chinese smelly fried tofu
>>8388572
Never tasted it, but in my experience all fermented food is good.
I thought they were pretty decent actually. But I went into it thinking about strong moldy cheeses that Asians would probably find gross. If you go into it thinking they will taste like refried beans you'll be grossed out.

Never had it but I would assume it tastes like a strong miso, no?

Not salty at all. Really, no flavor besides slightly bitter. Disappointing desu.
I enjoy the taste (especially with a little mustard) but can't stand the texture desu
I like it. I swear I could taste hints of something similar to coffee, along with the other stuff described. Dont find it as pungent as strong cheese or fermented tofu though. The strings of slime are really weird, they dont break easily, and stretch and cling almost like a spider web. Cant eat it without a dash of soy and hot mustard. Wish I had some now

japanese here they're fucking disgusting
Never tried it, but it looks good.

My wife loves natto, I hate it.
It's reminiscent of sweaty gym socks for me. Worse than Marmite.
Yeah it smells like gym socks, the taste is pretty plain though. I like the texture. We don't have many "slimy" textured foods in the west. I don't really like it or dislike it. I wouldn't buy it again but if it was served to me I would eat it.
