- Use a good sharp cheddar, not that, cheddar/jack combo shit that's so cheap.

- Get a good rye bread.

Bread goes soft in the microwave, and toasting it first is a good way to counteract that.
But he'd be better off using a toaster oven or a fullsize oven set to broil

What you have there is a damn tasty sandwich of toasted ham and cheese. If you were to be "top" chef, you'd have to top it with something like the estrus of a doe, or buck musk during the rut.
