I have. Pizza comes from Naples, Italy. Basic hot dog comes from US, but common hot dog, frankfurter, comes from Frankfurt, Germany and Hamburger also comes from Germany.

The majority of european countries have food that's very basic with a root in being something that was easy for poor people to make with half rotten cheap food and not have it taste terrible. Only America could take dishes like these and make them something special and decadent.
