You're supposed to sauté the pasta in the sauce a little, so mixed in.
Then just put however much or little as you like on top afterward.

Pasta finished in the sauce is how I roll. I don't want to see unsauced pasta on the plate.
How do you mix in the sauce properly? I mean, it`s piss easy when it`s ketchup, but when i`m making a sauce from ground meat, the meat spreads very uneven in the pasta.

Reserve about a half a cup of the water you cooked the pasta in, then mix the pasta and the sauce with it in the pot.
The starch in the cooking water helps everything stick to the pasta.
