For those of you who went to college what was your staple food while living in the dorms, college townhouses, and apartments?
Mine was summer sausage. I lived off of that shit, just crack open the package and slice away.

plain bread, some cheese, salami, pickled peppers

beans, ground beef, tomato sauce, onion, various peppers, various spices mixed together in a pan
Bread and Eggs in the morning
Pasta or rice with simple sauce and the meat that was on sale that day in the evening
For snacks: BRIE. I ate so much brie, it was more or less cheap and easy to eat on some toast.
5 star pizza, kraft mac n cheese
In the morning homemade bread (my hobby is baking) with pb or butter.
Lunch is either leftovers from night before or just some fruit.
Dinner is usually simple. Rice/quinoa (get it super cheap)/barley/pasta with some kind of pulse. Veggies are roasted or steamed, except asparagus which is always sauteed.
Snacks-- Mostly apples/pears, plums if I'm feeling wealthy. Sometimes homemade cornchips or tortillas, occasionally granola bars.
I'm pretty broke most of the time.
Cereal, spaghetti, stir fry, curry, cabbage soup

I have one in my cabinet just waiting to be opened. Think I may go buy some cheese and crackers later tonight and have at it. Maybe a bottle of wine too. And dried fruits.
Fuck it, we're cheese boarding it tonight.

Tonight was
Summer sausage
Herb goat cheese
Dill havarti cheese
Toasted sourdough slices
Rosemary crackers
Dried dates
Apple slices
Gherkin pickles
Quinoa pesto sauce
And a cheap ass $3 merlot
Strangely enough, I had more of peanut butter and jelly than I did ramen noodles.
iirc, my college diet/grocery list typically had
>milk and cereal (usually oatmeal)
>eggs
>rice
>frozen veggie mix (usually the corn, peas, and carrots variety)
>tuna
>yogurt (tub, for economy)
>pasta
>bananas
Sometimes I'd throw in a large can of ravioli, canned soup, or boxed meal if my paycheck was big enough and/or I'd have a night where I wouldn't have time to cook. Idk how my roommates lived off of boxed and frozen meals - shit's expensive.

oh yeah, alcohol was a once a month purchase since I couldn't go out much, and turns out, not much of a drinker, and every week or two weeks I'd switch from buying beef or chicken. I don't think I ate much pork until I was done and moved back home.
Ugh, I was in good shape then....
