What's the absolute best burger you've ever had, and where was it?

Take some time to really consider. Close your eyes, relax, and think it over.

In my kitchen.

Patty: Short rib meat, freshly ground just before forming the patties. Seasoned with S&P & cooked in an iron skillet. Seared crust on the outside of the patty, "medium" inside.

Toppings:
Homemade beer-battered onion rings (vidalia onions)
Kraft single x 2 (I am a cheese snob, but goddamn it if these aren't perfect for a cheeseburger.)
Benton's bacon
Homemade pickles with dill & garlic
Homemade spicy BBQ-garlic sauce

Buns toasted in the bacon drippings

The buns themselves were the only thing that could have been improved upon. I had pretty basic buns from the local supermarket bakery. However a potato-bread or brioche bun would have been better, IMHO.

>>

I just don't understand why you people can't understand that burgers aren't supposed to be stupidly complicated. Meat, cheese, pickles, ketchup, mustard. That's it. That's all that should be on it, ever. Anything more is retarded and you should be shot in the head, you spastic.

Not at all the best burger I've ever had, but it's plain and simple, it's not trying to do anything beyond it's means, it's a plain patty in plain bread, ketchup & mustard, some chopped onion, a slice of cheesse, and a slice of pickle.

For it's price, it's it's quite adequate, two or three of these small things are a passing lunch, it's satisfying in a humble sense.

It was at this pub called The Nitty Gritty in Madison, WI. It's kind of gimmicky because they are "birthday bar" where everyone goes to celebrate their birthday, but they have this burger called the Lone Star Burger which is a Burger with cheddar cheese, pulled pork, cole slaw, bbq sauce, french fried onions, served on texas toast. I have to agree as far as a burger that perhaps others could try. The patty is perfect. I don't like their weird stacked creations with carm onion truffle umamiumami etc. but the burger itself is god-tier. My advice is to order it with whatever you usually like on a burger.

>2 or 3

How fat are you?
>>
>>8372011
Considering they are 39 cents each on certain days of the week, I don't really think they are that large. One single cheese burger is 1/8th pound of meat patty before cooking, a teaspoon of ketchup at most, even less mustard, one single pickle slice and a half a teaspoon of chopped onions with the weird cheese slice added in. It is about equal to 3 or 4 chicken mcnuggets.
>>
>>8372022
And if you ate 12 mcnuggets per meal, you'd be a fat fuck too.

With how much fucking fat, sodium and sugar is in those things, you'd be better off eating one large burger from a place that isn't shit, probably feel more full afterwards too.

Well yeah, assuming you ate it every day which most do not. I guess you're just different if you think it's an every day thing and not a once in a while thing. Five Guys Burgers and Fries. I haven't been anywhere too fancy for a gourmet burger. I like em plain and simple.

Double bacon cheeseburger with a boatload of fries. Unbeatable.
>>
Fuddruckers, 2/3 lb "three cheese" burger.

cheddar
swiss
provolone
diced onions (lots)
relish (lots)
lettuce
ketchup
yellow mustard
mayo

All very standard stuff. But the patty and bun are so perfect that overrall it's amazing.

Ok I guess you don't know how it works, I won't accost you for ignorance. When you cook a burger it gets heated throughout, meat being brown is not indicative of lack of bacteria. As long as the middle of a burger is heated to a high enough temperature then it is safe to eat.

I've never found L.C.s to be anything special. But perhaps they improved after burning down.

I honestly think it all depends on how hungry you are when you eat a good cheeseburger. The top three I can think of are the Camden Club at Oriole Park (now gone). Some little dive in Ocean City, MD called The Talbot Street cafe or something like that (now gone). The best ever was some bar just south of New York City that I can't remember the name of or the name of the town it was in.

All three of these I had not eaten all day and was extremely hungry.

Holy shit, I thought "home of the big bun" was a satire, but people willingly pay for that trash

I'm a big fan of the Lola burger at B Spot in Cleveland (and I think one of Symon's closed restaurants). Cook it on the rarish side of medium, with pickled red onions, cheddar, bacon and a sunnyside-up egg. Press the bun down so the egg yolk starts to run out over the rest of the burger. Mmm. Honestly, I'm a sucker for any burger with a runny egg on top.

I also really like the burger au poivre at Heck's Cafe. Again, not cooked higher than medium, with fresh cracked peppercorns, grilled onions, Worcestershire sauce and sour cream.

A place called Pan Chancho in Kingston, Ontario.

Bolo Burger - $14.75
7oz of ground beef with Texas BBQ sauce and caramelized onions, patates frites with chive aïoli
make it Mo’Better... add 2 year old cheddar and bacon $2.75

the best I can remember.

Actually forgot there was such a place as Montana. No wonder the residents can't remember their special restaurants.

Put it on your list for if you even find yourself in South Brooklyn.

This always bothers me.

The last steak au poivre I got was at the Tuntmore and it didn't have any peppercorns. It's literally not a steak au poivre without them! So if I can get a good burger au poivre I'd love to try it. Will they do my leftovers in a tin foil swan?

Aside from the meat being medium rare, that actually sounds extremely delightful.
That an actual Czech thing or just the brainchild of their chefs?

(yeah, I'm a plebe, but I prefer my meat cooked for texture and flavor)
