As a Brit, I used to get freshwater eels all the time, they were a bit of a pest but now they are considered endangered, I ate them grilled and they reminded me of belly pork.

I live in SW England and jellied Eel isn't really a thing here but I can tell you grilled Eel is like belly pork.
But in all fairness I haven't eaten it for a long time and I don't do the jellied stuff.

i live in SW too and its in most supermarkets, im not in an "ethnic" area though so that might be it.

We don't have 'ethnic areas' in the SW of England (except for the odd Polish shop) . .. we certainly don't have niggers or Mussies but Eels aren't common in a fishmongers, you have to catch your own.
>order eel
>expect it to be nice and firm

Orwell, the famous writer, once ate a plate of boiled eels his wife had made and was cooling on the counter for the dogs.
So my question: Why are britbongs discussing the nuances of eels as human food when they're simply dogfood? Oh, yeah. Britbong "cuisine."
