So when I was cleaning out my garage I found an old Sushi making kit. Figured I'd try to make some cheap rolls cause I like sushi but am a poorfag.

I've watched a few videos, do any of you anons know any tricks for the sushi rice or what good ghetto fillings I can use (Was thinking Imitation Krab, Chicken Teriyaki and Shrimp tempura)

So do any anons have any advice? I was thinking of deep frying a roll if I feel comfortable with it cause I'm already making tempura.

I made "sushi" with serranos and carrots before, was good enough.

Also fuck fake crab. I don't know how it is where you are, but around here that shit isn't even more than like $1/lb cheaper than fresh salmon.

I'll have to see what I can get at a good price, I figure when I actually go to the supermarket I'll find something. As for that, what kind of fish is "sushi grade" and what fish will kill me if I eat it raw from the supermarket? I frankly just want something cheap so I can get the feeling of making Americanized sushi

How do you make the rice? I would just do a 3x wash of short grain and soak for a bit before cooking, but do you need to add anything?

Rice vinegar for sure.

Stick to salmon if you can. You could theoretically use any fish, but I would never recommend it. If money is that tight, stick to using canned tuna.

Try crunchy shit like cucumbers/bell peppers/bok choy with any meaty stuff, from mushrooms to eggs to tofu to turkey. Actually, try canned 'dines or tuna; might be good in the same way mackerel is.

Bit of vinegar.
