Is this the proper order of toppings for a cheeseburger?
>>
No. Starting at the bottom is should go patty, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, condiments.
>>
>>8335187
This
>>
>>8335187
This guy knows what he's talking about
>>
What's "proper" is whatever works. What doesn't work is fucking crumbly stupid ass brioche buns. That shit fad is the worst of them all and needs to die.
>>
Bro. Glad you asked. It goes like this..
Bottom Bun
Mayo
Pickles
Burger
>This way the pickles get warm and buttery but still maintain a nice crunch.
Cheese
Lettuce
Tomato
Top Bun with mustard.
>You can also reverse this
So bottom bun, then mustard, then lettuce, then tomato, then burger, then cheese, then pickles, then top bun with mayo.
>>
>>8335202
>That shit fad is the worst
whenever i order one and it comes to me as a fucking brioche bun i fucking mope, poke at it and then never eat there again -.- its a horrendous dining experience.
>>
>>8335174
I usually go:
>bun
>cheese
>pickles
>condiments
>Onions
>Patty
>egg
>>
>>8335174
tomato and lettuce on the bottom is a good way to get a mushy and torn up bottom bun
>>
>>8335187
>wrong_kiddo.jpg

Your taste buds are on top of your tounge, so why would you just want the bread and meat to hit it?
>>
>pickles
>tomato

stop
>>
That looks like an IHOP plate. I didn't know they even served burgers at IHOP, but yeah, I wouldn't expect those fuckers to get anything right. Who the hell puts veggies on the bottom?
>>
>>8335187
I agree except pickles are loose and should therefore be next to the cheese so they can bond in place.
>>
>>8335174
>burger looks well done

Doesn't matter. It's ruined already
>>
>>8335174
>Bottom bun
>Beef patty
>Cheese
>Bacon and other meats
>Tomato or mustard base dressing
>Pickles
>Lettuce
>Mayo based dressing
>Top bun
And tomato goes in the trash
>>
>>8336402
ground beef needs to be well done m8, or at least medium well
>>
Bottom to Top:
Bun
Light layer of Mayo to keep bun from getting overly soggy
Beef Patty
Cheese
Bacon
Sauteed Onions
Lettuce
Tomato
Pickles
Mustard
Thousand Island/more Mayo if applicable
Bun

This is irrefutable
>>
>>8336402
hey Jack
>>
>>8336425

Now now, I think a well-placed tomato can make a positive difference as long as it isn't sliced too thick or too thin
>>
>>8336304
this.
>>
>>8335174
On the bottom, bun, meat, cheese, onion/pickle/ sauce

on the top, mayo, lettuce, tomato (holds shit in place when you put the top half onto the bottom half)

This is the only order.
>>
The bottom bun needs mayo to keep the from the patty from soaking in it. Mayo contains oil and oil (mayo) and water (burger juice) do not mix.
>>
>>8335187
Pickles should always be at the bottom imo
>>
I like BBQs where everyone can stack their burgers as they see fit
As for me, from the bottom...
Bun
Mayo
Patty
Cheese
A lil mustard
Greens
Dressing
Bun
>>
>>8335187
Lettuce above tomato, casual
>>
From bottom to top:
bun
mayo
patty
cheese
cheese
tomato (acid is needed for all that fatty goodness)
mayo
bun

Keep the salad shit for the salad.

best burger I ever ate had pickles under the patty. Would recommend

Starting at the bottom:

Mustard, spices and onions on the bottom, patty and cheese at the center, pickles tactfully pressed down into cheese and lettuce/tomato up top.

Thats not how it works
Mayo is fluid and therefore will make the bottom bun soaked, especially if you apply pressure by having a birger on top of it
>>
>>8338957
Honestly ketchup is better than tomatoes on a burger.
>>
I work at Mcdonalds. The structure of the basic cheeseburger is:

Bottom bun
burger patty
cheese
onions
one pickle
ketchup
top bun
>>
>>8339048
Truth, but only because tomato had a weird tendency to do one of two things: either slip or fall out, or refuse to get bit in half and chases after the piece of burger that you just bit into.
>>
>>8339052
>one pickle
As in, one pickle slice? Fucking hell, jews were a mistake.
>>
Anybody else eat their burgers plain? Just the meat and cheese with MAYBE a condiment on it?
>>
>>8339075
Yeah. The basic hamburger and cheeseburger both come with one pickle slice. Any other sandwich that includes pickles comes with two.
>>
>>8335174
Things that should go in a burger:
>Pattie
>Cheese
>Condiments
>A pickle or sliced sausage of some kind (chorizo)

Things that have no place in a burger
>any kind of salad

Lettuce and tomato look good in a burger but serve no purpose in increasing flavour and should be discarded. Unnecessary filler. I'd rather have a side salad with a good dressing that can be eaten separately.

>>8339085
*patty

Not trying to derail this thread, but I asked this in another thread and didn't get an answer.

Crocodile burgers. What should I be getting out of them? Because I got basically nothing out of my experiment today, from a place that specialises in a small variety of meats.
>>
>>8339326
What do you get out of eating any kind of burger?
>>
>>8339337
I'd hope to get a good taste and texture out of the meat. Something that stays with me, warms me cockles.

I had a water buffalo burger on the weekend that did just that.
>>
>>8339341
So what are you asking? If crocodile tastes good?
>>
>>8339367
I guess I'm asking if the crocodile I had was - well, real, or well-prepared, or well-served, or if I've somehow blown my tastebuds.

It was just this crumbly little pink patty with some onions on it. Those onions didn't get in the way of anything, so I'm wondering where the crocodile failed.

Next time I'm getting camel.
>>
>>8339045
>therefore will make the bottom bun soaked
Only if you let it set for hours.
>>
>>8335174
Bottom bun, mustard, ketchup, pickle, lettuce, patty, cheese, tomato, onion, mayonnaise, top bun.

>>
>>8335262
Wrong. The bun gets mushy from the juice of the burger. Lettuce on the bottom helps soak up the juice so too much doesn't get to the bun.

>>8339501
He's not completely out of his mind, though he probably is using a poor quality bread that cant hold up to the greatness that is the burger. So you probably have some buns ;)

I put the cheese between the heel and the patty so that the juice is more likely to fall off the cheese rather into the bun, and the basic bread-cheese-meat always stay together, at the bottom. The word "foundation" comes to mind, as those 3 things are indeed the base to any cheeseburger.

Between the top of the patty and the crown, that's basically up to personal preference. Sometimes I'll have melted cheese, caramelized onions, bacon, and mayo if not using sliced or spread avocado. Occasionally an egg.

all you fucks talking about putting sauces on the bottom have never made a burger or are just trolling. sauce on the bottom means the patty slips and slides around when you bite into it.

>there are "people" on this board right now that eat mayo on hot food

the perfect dress for a burger is top bun, ketchup and mustard, lettuce, tomato, a couple red onion rings, cheddar cheese melted on the burger, bottom bun. oh and it helps to toast the buns with butter on the grill too. anyone doing anything different is a fucking savage and needs to go back to the jungles.

Because the bread and meat are base flavors, and the rest of the meal gets mixed into them to modify the tastes. If you had, say, lettuce first it would just get overpowered. The only thing i would put on the bottom is either cheese or tomato, mainly because strong cheeses can hold their own against all the meat that comes after and because tomato is jucy enough that you can taste it on contact, unlike lettuce.

No. The lettuce on the bottom provides a crunch, like potato chips on a sandwich.

Putting it on top not only throws off that balance, but it makes the burger misshapen. Leaf lettuce is large and broad. You don't want that on top.

This is right. But restaurants don't always want to let burger drain, so they throw lettuce on the bottom so people don't complain about soggy bottom bun.
>>
>>8343897
The restaurant is probably making a shitty burger anyway if the fucking patting is dripping. The start of a good burger is a perfect patty, which should approach well done but still be juicy, not fucking bleeding and making the bottom bun moist.

Also, if you fucking order your burger medium rare like a retard and complain about a soggy bun you deserve it.
>>
>>8344127
I love it when assmads make argument's from nothing.

1. Who said perfect burger
2. Taking any burger fresh from plate to bun without letting it rest can sog a bun
3. Who mentioned cook of burger

Make more shit up people didn't say so you can argue with yourself.

This god damned question, every time.

Mayo, if used, goes on the bottom bun - helps to keep it from soaking everything up and becoming unstable.

In practice, I find that sauces on the top bun should be able to hold onion, pickle and tomato in place as long as you're not using astounding amounts of onion or pickle.

This leaves the lettuce. I prefer it under the patty - helps maintain the integrity of the bottom bun, and helps give the underside of the burger a little bit of crunch to go with the (ideally) somewhat crisp upper veg.
>>
>>8335216
A fucking plus, friend.
>>
Toppings are a tricky discussion when it comes to burgers.
Order really just depends on what or how you prioritize your experience.

Bottom to top, better overall structure.
Top to bottom, better overall mouth feel.
Half and half, emphasis on bun integrity.

My preference is frankly mouth feel over structure, but there are times when I make a burger so perfect that it just oozes juices. Then I have to compensate to a potentially soggy bun and require a buffer between the top and bottom. However, if I were to specifically list my favorite order, it would be this in descending order:

Top bun.
Condiment.
Tomato.
Pickles.
Cheese.
Burger.
Onion.
Lettuce.
Condiment.
Bottom bun.
