Here it is my brothers, never again will I wake up the next day to a flat soda. It was a moment of autistic zen that delivered me this inspired idea, tonight we drink to accomplishment.
this will make it go flat quicker tho
because of air filling the empty space and pressurizing quick the bottle has to expand even more with carbonation

not if I wrap it up in rubber bands it won't
I'll check on it in the morning to see if the air pocket expands I guess
Fantastic post

The reason new soda doesn't decarbonate is because the pressure inside is high enough that the carbon dioxide can't turn into a gas. If you do that to your bottle, the material the bottle is made of is going to try to return to its original shape, which creates a suction inside the bottle, lowering the pressure. What your doing actually makes your drink decarbonate faster, unless you somehow managed to apply even and constant pressure on the outside of the bottle to keep it crushed up like that.

*what you're doing
Also, i suggest you try pumping the bottle up with a tire pump instead of removing the air in the bottle. Also, keeping your drink really cold slows down the decarbonation.
