Kidney and Black beans although black beans are really overpriced in Australia for some reason. I guess because they're not really that common.

A 400g can of Kidney beans goes for 79 cents but the same size can of blackbeans the cheapest option is like $3.

pinto beans, i make my refried with lots of onion, garlic, and the most important one, LARD. i use bacon fat, gives it a nice smokey savory flavor

I usually use red beans or kidney beans, but black beans would probably be good too, or pintos even. Basically whatever you want to use.
