Oh, those are considered a good thing? I bought one for ten bucks. It's nice, brews about two whole cups of coffee and doesn't need attention.

my italian professor said that the first 6 or 7 batches of coffee you toss out to prime the pot.
he also said to never ever use soap on it or else you have to prime it again.
also, if you have a gas stove then the flame should not directly touch the bottom of the thing.
he also suggested putting boiling water into the bottom part instead of boiling the water in there, so you don't risk burning the coffee.
