About to have my first In n Out
>inb4 its overhyped

Any recommendations on what to try first?

What is your standard order?
>>
double double feels like the best meat/cheese to everything else ratio for me
i like whole grilled onion slices, usually get 2 per burger
the rest of the toppings are up to what you like on burgers
extra toasted buns is pretty nice
i eat my fries pretty slow so i dont get anything on them lest the melted cheese coagulates or other stuff gets them too soggy
>>
I get a double double with cheese lettuce hamboigah sauce and grilled onions, animal fries on the side
and ask for extra hamburger sauce in the little packets. Even if you dont use it you still can keep them in the fridge. I always feel like they dont put enough on the fries
>>
>>8239208
yea that sounds ideal, I may have to get the animal fries though. Is animal style burger worth it?

>>8239212
wish I could save the sauce but on a road trip

thanks boys love my grilled onions so I will likely max out

we shall see if will beat whataboigah

>How can we make fries even more unhealthy?
Lets add a tub of grease to them while also removing the crunchy feat that makes fries fries.
>>
I'm from Detroit. I didn't even try In and Out until I visited my friend in Denver. It was pretty good but I liked Whataburger down in Texas better.

OP here

I know that feeling brother
>>
Double double with grilled onions, protein style, with animal style fries
>>
>>8239247
And to think, In-N-Out's fries used to be one of the healthier ones.
>>
>>8239161
double double animal style

you can get animal style fries too but that is optional
>>
tell them "whatever is greasy n cheese" it's code for there best burger.
>>
>>8239161
It's fast food dude why are you hyped this isn't good food
>>
>>8239161
it is overhyped but I'd probably still eat there often if I had one near me because it's cheap.
>>
>>8239474
*cheesey
>>
I'll have a number nine, a number nine large, a number six with extra sauce, a number seven, two number forty-fives, one wit' cheese, and a large soda
>>
>>8239475
in n out serves better burgers than most of the actual restaurants in my town
>>
Single cheeseburger or double double then extra well done fries. They're more crispy
>>
>>8239489
but the numbers only go up to 3.

>double double (best ratio), double grilled onions, add chopped chilis (animal style is optional its mustard fried bun and more veggies)
>animal style extra grilled onions

if you are trying to be cheap just do normal fries with thousand island on the side (packets are free) and some ketchup with pepper
>>
>>8239450
They still are by themselves and made fresh. Kennebec potatoes chopped behind the register

Even all the skinny yuppie californians will eat in n out over any fast food chain including subway. They have offered those fries forever.
>>
>>8239161
Angeleno here. Just get a double double and a shake. Skip the fries and don't get animal style anything. Their fries are bland and limp and animal sauce is just a pickle-bomb.
>>
Went to In n Out when I was in California a few months ago. The place was full of Mexicans and Asians. The burger was average. Fucking Wendy's tastes better.
>>
>>8239875
As someone who lives in California:

I prefer Wendy's. It's unironicly my favorite burger place.
Never ate at Five Guys, though.
>>
>>8239937
Fucking hell. Should have double-checked.

>>
>>8239161
I'm probably too late, but do a #1 with grilled onions, which is a Double Double with fries and a drink. If you like crispier fries, ask for them well done. I don't know what condiments you like, but they offer ketchup or spread (thousand island dressing mix that they put on their burgers). This is the most common order, ignore memes like

>>
>>8239961
I'd rather not live in des moines
>>
>>8239974
They recently opened one up in Ames, the one in coraville opens on black friday (due to the hype of that abysmal money grab) then they'll have one at the ped mall in Iowa City shortly afterwards. There is talk to have one in the quad cities some place as well.
>>
>>8239161
Double double animal style, extra crispy fries, chocolate shake.

It's the best burger place in the category of cheap fast food, but that doesn't make it really noteworthy in the grand scheme of things. Don't expect to be blown away.
>>
>>8240036
I'd rather not live in Iowa at all.
>>
>>8240062

If it isn't the one in Palm Springs you're taking a serious gamble.
>>
Neapolitan shake. Normal fries. Double double animal style.
>>
>>8240249
You're an idiot.
>>
>>8240260
Can't speak for literally every location, but recently myself and others have been burned by the lack of quality at so many locations. Palm Springs has stayed true over the years.
>>
>>8240265
Even the one by LAX is still as good as it was when I moved to LA 6 years ago.
>>
Had my first (a double double & animal fries) in LA two weeks ago.

It was very forgettable.
>>
Double-double with grilled onions, maybe some animal style fries but the grilled onions part is absolutely essential.
>>
>>8240287
It's just good for the money, that's all. Californians like to pretend it's the greatest thing ever, but it's just OK. We're starting to get Shake Shack here in LA and that's WAY better. It costs a lot more, but you get what you pay for. The burgers, fries and shakes at Shake Shack are way better than In n Out, Five Guys, Wendy's, Father's Office, Apple Pan. The only burger I've had in LA that I like better than Shake Shack is Burgerlords in Chinatown. It's basically what In n Out wishes it was/what people pretend In n Out is: perfectly simple, simply perfect.

My usual order is a cheeseburger with grilled onions, coke, and a side of fries. I like to use spread for dipping and putting in my boigah.

>>8239237
>Is animal style burger worth it?
Nah. Just add for spread on the side, it's free and comes in packets if you'd like to save it for a road trip. You can also order animal style without the slice of american cheese on top, if that's not your style.

Hamburger with onion (you have to ask for the onion, it's retarded) and fries. If you like cheeseburgers then get a Double Double, but I personally don't like cheeseburgers.

People who over complicate orders or ask for mustard are retards.

The chopped chillies makes a huge fucking difference, and bring the burger to another tier.

sucks to be near the franchises you go to

protip: extra toasted bun keeps it all together long enough for me to eat it.
>>
>>8242481
I've been to In an Outs from San Diego to Ventura.
THEY ALL SERVE SOGGY TOMATOES. It's just the style of tomatoes that they use.

They are way too fucking watery.
>>
>>8242486
Try the ones in North SD county maybe? I literally never have problems with soggy anything as long as they actually toast the bun extra, sometimes they skimp out and I have to take the paper wrap off entirely to keep grease from collecting and soaking into the bottom half of my burger

My only complaint is consistency of their grilled onions and the amount of lettuce.

I appreciate the hand leaf thing they do but jesus christ please don't put a half head of lettuce into my burger

The best part about in-n-out is the ingredients. It's dumbfounding how standard fast food places can't afford to buy fresh heads of iceberg lettuce, and the difference it makes is huge. Likewise with their tomatoes, onions, fries, etc.

If trying it for the first time I'd recommend a standard order of fries. Keep in mind they will be weird and rather bland, but this is what fresh potatoes with oil and salt tastes like, maybe if you're like me you'll learn to love em.

I'm a veg fag and I get grilled cheese. Delicious 2 slices of cheese, cooked in the hamburger grease, for slightly less $ than a reg cheeseburger. It's good.

I get it animal style (which means add grilled onions, mustard grilled, extra spread) and extra everything. Extra everything shows up as XE on the receipt(although some lame workers will try to start typing out X L X T X O etc). It means extra lettuce, tomatoes, onions, spread, hell even extra salt it seems like they do sometimes. Either way, it's hella good.
>>
>>8239161
I had Five Guys for the first time the other day, got a bacon cheeseburger with lettuce onion tomato.

You mean because it take 20 minutes to get a burger and fries? Because that's frequently true about In N Out as well.

I ate there for the first time in Cleveland the other day.

It was alright I suppose.

You should do the standard order for your first order ever. It's analogous to trying a dish before putting hot sauce or salt or whatever on it, which I imagine is something you don't do.
