It's not just rice though, it's short grain rice mixed with rice vinegar and some other shit for flavor.
It's not just fish, it's raw fish giving it a unique flavor and texture.

Thanks to the fact that western nations long time ago stopped making any beef that has any fat in it, and overbred cattle to the point of them being meat only monstrosities, beef is just damn bland these days. You can find good beef in those third world countries, oddly enough.
