Is prep cooking really necessary?
Uh....
>>8214814
Even with prep a lot of people complain food comes out of restaraunts too slow. I can't even begin to imagine how long it'd be without prep.
>>8214814
is this a serious question?
the only way eateries get food out quickly and in the right order is to prep
chefs are starting at 7AM prepping for dishes they will serve at 7PM that night
it would not be a stretch to say prepping is 60% of their work
>>8214814
Let's just serve everyone a whole cow for every meal
>sry, m8. Anon said prep is unecessary
>>8214814
Try doing a line shift without mise en place and find out.
Oh wait, you never cooked professionally
>>8214906

Rather dig ditches, to be honest.
>Actually working in a kitchen
Why would anyone subjugate themselves to this
>>8214911
>>8215083
>implying making 2x more money and not working in a hot sweaty kitchen isnt worth it
For regular home cooking?
That depends.
Do you like cooking while hungry?

Maybe on the second date, depending on how well she cooks.
This thread is now about working prep
>Be me, finishing my degree living on campus
>Don't wanna deliver pizza constantly
>apply to company contracted to dining hall
>Expect they'll shove me in the dishroom.
>Tell them I used to work at a Five Guys, where some of the ingredients required prep.
>"So you have food prep experience! Excellent!"
>wait wut
>start working in prep cooler
>It's fucking great
>All the guys are chill
>We're prepping tomorrow's food, so no rush
>Company provides cutting gloves and non slips
>Coworkers show me all their techniques
>I'm actually learning shit, start cooking more at home.
>8-2 on weekends, Sundays always get done early.
>Managers are chill
>One minute walk to and from work/dorm
>Best fucking job ever
Go fuck your mother Dominos.
>>8215613

if i could just break down fish for 8 hours every day i would be so happy.
>>8215706
It's true. The line is where all the stress is.
>>8215613
>tfw work catering and do a bit of everything
the worst is big jobs and setting everything up, making sure there's always enough food
Prep is comfy af tho
>>8215706
I got a cushy af prep job but I still get to make sauces and fry shit it's great. Lots of stuff to do and all the people are great to be around (sans one guy)

Ladies and gentlemen, 4chan, in six words.

>Panera Bread
Bruh get out now before it takes your soul
Worked there way too long
>why do we need concrete we already have sidewalks
This is what you sound like to people who prepare and cook food.
>people don't order a starter
>complain their food takes too long
>complains its too small
ugh... if you're not ordering a starter why the fuck are you in a restaurant like this? This isn't some diner you're used to buddy the portion sizes are designed for normal weight humans eating 3-4 courses.

>sweaty back of house drunk mexifats and tattooed whitetrash
>dignity
>>8216958

I never ever have to smile at anyone who's being a cunt to me. Not one time in years.
FOH have to smile and nod at people giving them shit multiple times a day.
That's not dignity to me
>>8216967
>I may have to eat shit but at least I don't have to pretend to enjoy it
>>8214882

>>8214919
I dunno about that, I'm laughing.
>>8215613
Same scenario, I did that for a year then became a manager with the school's dining. Now I tell people what to do and get paid more. Keep it up.
