Kidney beans are less tender have tougher skins. If I had to choose between kidney beans and chickpeas, I would take the latter.

I'm down to canned favas because they're more of a bitch to cook than cannellini. Canned favas are super good over a salad in a tahini-lemon dressing. Cannellini are great with olive oil, garlic, tomatoes and fresh sage.
