>you need to through 10 years of samurai training before you can correctly combine a slice of fish with a clump of rice
Any reasonable person would know that's bullshit. But it does take a certain skill set and knowledge to produce good rice/fish clumps.

so wait how do i prepare the middle one?

Nuke Japan twice and wait a few decades.
LMAO Japan and their obsession with bullshit "grand mastery" of retarded shit.

How does that old man live with himself? Doesn't it make him feel bad that he has dedicated his life to pretending to be some kind of magical mime fighter?

Up until this he'd gone 400 - 0 against MMA fighters.

They age the tuna you tard. He even says in the movie that his Apprentices do the work he just combines the result. It was his oldest son who provided the service and food that won him the Stars.
He is addicted, he has reached the top of a fairly small mountain and wishes he was still climbing and had picked a bigger mountain to scale.
His oldest son despises him as he is still in his shadow despite making the exact same sushi at the same quality, perhaps more since it is proven that old people lack the sensitivity of taste and smell as they age.

What I can say about any type of successful food/resturant. They have good service and fresh ingredients. He's done it so well that hes highly revered. Is that so hard to grasp?

Actually timing is an important part of the experience you pay for at a restaurant.
>>8188428
Not in regular familiy restaurants. They bring the food when it is cooked. They may start it a little slower but in no way is the average restaurant concious or even caring about the time and pace.
>>8188476
Ok IHOP provides subpar service, you're right.
Let me rephrase. Any restaurant that provides even a modicum of training to its waitstaff, or with a clientele of anyone with an income higher than 25k/yr, provides proper service. Timing is one of the most important aspects of waiting tables. It's why courses are served simultaneously to all members of a party, and why only poorly trained/ignorant waitstaff clear plates individually, before ALL members have finished the course. No one is to be made to feel rushed, but allowed to enjoy the entire course comfortably.
>>8188499
To preempt your purposefully obstinate reply, let me add:
And due to this importance of timing, it shows high attention to detail that the nip chef in the op tailors meals to their individual customers to avoid the disproportionate timing amongst the party and synchronize the pacing of the courses.
>>8188476
The average restaurant goer isn't going to Jiro's for the food.
It's 200+ dollars for 6 pieces of sushi.

the people on this site are like human composts. you turn everything you see and hear into shit. You're the reason why people build bombs.
The whole "he's been doing it 50 years so he's the best" is a very cultural thing. Rank in Japan is less a function of nominal meritocracy but rather nominally based on seniority (nepotism not withstanding obviously).
It's really a pervasive part of their culture, like individual merit being baked into American culture.
>>8188727
Right, tell that to the sword makers and woodworkers in japan. I'm sure it's just nepotic pride of place.
>>8187948
