for me i do it because it makes them softer and said to be easier on the digestive system

any time you eat a raw nuts or seeds its not very pleasant so imo soaking them in water is one way to slighlty "cook " them without applying heat

its not a meme ,i do it with sunflower seeds because theyre very unpleasant and dry when eaten raw

but if you soak them theyre a little better texture

and thats not even talking about the scientific basis
