this thing is on sale. should I get it? I've never owned a crock pot but I like slow cooking. is 3.5L (0.8 gallons) too small? I only cook for one but would like to make dishes with plenty of ingredients and don't mind having plenty of leftovers.
>>
no love for crock pots?
>>
you know what they say about crock pots, the happiest day of your life is when you buy one and the next happiest day is when you sell it.
>>

That size tends to be a bit small, I have one about that size and it handles like 4 lbs of meat at most, so If you want to cook larger pieces of meat you would be out of luck. My roommate has a 1.5 gallon one that fits about anything you want decently well.
>>
Only get one if you already make lot of soup, stew, and simmer recipes. If you're not already into that, forget it.
>>
>>8182670
I already cook foods that go into the oven in a ceramic bowl multiple times a week. Can't most of those just be crock-potted instead?
>>8182665
hmm that is a little worrying. have you tried preparing chicken in one by the way? everyone always talks about beef stews when crock pots are brought up

You sound like a working class chump. I bet you thought it would be a great "investment", how you would wake up to a warm, healthy breakfast to start off your long day. Maybe, you even had a couple thoughts about all the other nifty little uses you could find for the thing, how it would help you cook healthier meals in general, shed a couple pounds off the old gut, boost your confidence around work and with the ladies. Yeah, maybe that slow cooker would start your life cooking again, wouldn't it? I can see your strained hands holding the box and reading through it carefully at the store. A little bit pricey, but you're the type of guy who thinks everything is more than you can spend, aren't you. And look what happened to you. Look what the slow cooker did to you. Fucked you over, and made you clean it like a useless bitch. You don't even fucking like oatmeal. Piece of shit, you've been repeating those three words your whole life, haven't you. Yeah, how was work after that piece of shit fucked you over? I bet it was on your mind the whole day, you probably didn't say shit to nobody. Can't be telling people about your mistakes. How your little fix yourself plan, failed you. Don't want people to start thinking you're the failure. You're the piece of shit, all along. You don't want that do you? You don't want to be the piece of shit everybody secretly whispers about, do you? Was your father a piece of shit like you? I bet he never had a slow cooker. He had a woman, a house, a damn good job. I bet it's slow cooking you the fuck alive, isn't it. Comparing yourself to him. How one day when all the steam runs our of your life, you'll discover how you're nothing more than burnt shit to be scrapped off and thrown in the trash.

Chicken works decently well, I've done chicken soup using thighs and chicken tacos with breasts. Pulled pork is probably what I have made the most times. To be honest I rarely cook with my crockpot, I have the free time to cook normally.

i didn't read all the way through your post but unfortunately I'm not the guy you're hoping to roast. I've eaten skyr/quark and oats every day for breakfast for like 3 years. I have no trouble staying fit and that's not why I'm looking for a slow cooker, I've been watching my macros successfully without one longer than you've been shitposting on the internet probably. also I'm not into impulse buying gadgets I don't even have a coffee maker or a toaster.

how does the size work? if it's 3.5L can you actually fit in 3.5L of food in there or do you have to leave a buffer? I'm trying to imagine how big it is. I meal prep a lot so the ability to make large portions would be nice.

ok good to hear. I like to try out new recipes but what I eat 6 days a week is chicken breast and varying vegetables. it sounds like one could be useful for that too

It's been a long time since I tasted that pasta.
It's still just as tasty as the first time

hullut päivät?

Just spend the 30 bucks and get a nice, normal sized slow cooker. Best 30 bucks I ever spent, get the most time saving and use out of mine.
>>

they are more expensive here. this thing is 49.90 and the one double its size is 89.90
not really any competing brands available either

>oven in a ceramic bowl

A dutch oven? I think that's more for roasting and crock pots aren't for roasting.

A roaster oven is more appropriate for roasting. They even get hot enough to bake.

yeah something like that. I wasn't thinking it as a direct replacement though just similiar recipes.
