Small places can't afford those machines so their cream and sugar additions would vary from barista to barista. Most customers enjoy consistency and the easiest way to achieve that in a small coffee shop is to allow the customer to do it for their self. It's not really a huge deal. They probably don't even have that stuff behind the counter to do it for you.

Although I think OP is a manbaby, in this case you're still being essentially paid per hour to work. Putting some effort in and getting things done will give you discipline and motivation to do that in real jobs as well.

If it weren't for my expirience in my part time high-school / college job (I had the same job for 6 years) where I worked hard and smart even when I only started with 3.50 / hour. I worked my way up till 15/hour and gained the expirience, motivation, discipline and good contacts needed to land my current job. I'd most likely be unemployed or working at a much worse place.
