There are some good vegan chocolate cake recipes out there, not sure about other types or flavors though.

I have eaten vegan cupcakes, and other vegan bakery goods (I'm a hardcore omnivore, I grew up on a ranch, so you'd have to pry the meat from my cold dead hands).
Anyway, they were really good, I have to say. BUT, this was a professional vegan bakery that I got dragged to, so they probably know more about how to make their baked goods taste good than the average vegan shlob.

If it was the only kind of cupcake available or if it didn't cost more than the equivalent normal people's cupcakes, sure.
