Tried Udon noodles once and they were very slimy. Didn't like it much (but I was younger and didn't eat my veggies either). Now I got a different brand (which is also organic and quite expensive). They are much firmer, a little thinner and overall pretty good. I like them a lot in my soup.
Now which one is closer to the original? Are Udon noodles supposed to be slimey?

I like Ramen simply because I prefer the firmer texture compared to others. Pancit is good as well (but that isn't a Japanese noodle obv)

Visited the Tokushima Odorimatsuri and then just started walking. Nice people and good food everywhere. Even with very sore and painful feet I don't regret it. Visiting Mt. Koya at the end was magical.

I visited Aomori too but only saw the festival floats in the museum. I stayed for 2 days when I visited the Osorezan Bodaiji.

After the pilgrimage I used a Japan Rail Pass to visit a lot of places you can reach with the Shinkansen. From Tanegashima (saw a rocket launch) to Sapporo (only enough time for 2 different ramen shops ;_;).
