Yes, it's likely "freezer burned" and will be dry and spongy, which doesn't matter depending on how you cook it.

But after six years, there may well have been a power outage or something, with a partial thaw and refreeze, which might mean bacterial growth.

You can do this with rats and mice too, but they have narrow food prefs, usually shelf stable stuff.
Rats are much better at it, their hair will stand up if they smell poison.

Frozen food lasts literally forever.
If the power goes out and it rots and refreezes , you will smell the problem immediately.

The biggest fear is off flavor. This had none, I got lucky and the packaging was pretty impressive.
