Is Sushi really scary to try for the first time?

Only if you are a pussy who was raised on a diet of cheetos and McBurgers.
only if you're an uncultured american
First time I had it at like 5 years old, my friend's mom just told me it was chicken with rice. I tried it then she told me what it really was and I liked it.
Parents did the same thing with calamari, they told me it was french fries.
I think it might be a problem with sashimi, it is raw fish/chicken/beef, but with other types, if you add smoked salmon or prepared fish and stuff, it's very appealing, smells good and I don't think people will be repulsed by it.

If you're european, yes
Only trashy people are repulsed by such things.
why is eating sushi such a big deal?

>luckily your 300 extra pounds of lard cushion your fall (REAL HUMANS HAVE CURVES)
>crawl to your pickup truck
>drive to mcdonalds, get one of everything

>wash it down with a 3L of dollar store cola

(you)
As an uncultured american, I was excited and not scared at all. Knowing (assuming, because of ignorance) that japanese people eat it daily, I didn't worry about health and figured it must be tasty.

I forgot that state existed.

Sushi is far more popular in the US compared to literally any European country, dum dum.

A great way to remember it is as ARch-Kansas, Kansas 2, or The Evil Kansas
Assuming you mean sashimi, I didn't find it scary, but I don't understand why it's raw. I tried rolls with salmon and it has less flavour than cooked salmon and is slimy. But I love sushi overall.
