If you took the alcohol out of beer, nobody in their right minds would drink any of that piss. If you took the flavor out of beer, nobody in their right mind would waste their time trying to get buzzed/drunk off a solution of 99% water, 0.5% starch, and 0.5% alcohol.

I don't think anyone pretends to like it. A lot of people pretend to understand it, which is odd, because it's fairly simple.

I hated beer when I was younger. Then I lived in Germany for a couple years and acquired the taste. Now I brew my own.

I view it like any other culinary delight, or monsrosity: you like it, or not. No big deal.

There's a lot about beer culture I despise, particularly know-nothings acting pretentious about "detecting notes of coffee/toffee/oatmeal/whatever", small surprise since the beer was likely brewed with those ingredients, or more likely, had those artificial flavors added after the brewing process.

Beer is simple. Can you boil water? Can you wash dishes? Then you can brew beer and pretense doesn't really factor into it. But if you don't like the taste, then you don't.

I have tried beer a couple of time but I can't get over how it tastes like shit. It's also carbonated which fucks with me hard because I never drank soda in my life.

Beer tastes good, especially when you get older. I cant drink sweet alcohols such as cider or long drink anymore as their taste is more sappy than sweet to me. Beer is that perfect balance of bitterness and taste. In fact, I've started recently to gravitate towards dark beers as regular beers are too "light" for me.

And don't even start with the whole "you only drink bcuz you wish to be manly hurdedur". I live in Finland where long drinks (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_drink) are socially acceptable drinks for men to drink, yet I gravitated towards beers as I got older.

I think it has to do more with sweet vs savory taste. If you subject yourself to nothing but sugary drinks and water then you probably won't like.beer or tamato juice.

I started drinking it in high school because I could get drunk off of it due to no tolerance.

Continued drinking it through college case party culture. Even at 3.5% alcohol, if you drink huge quantities of it fast enough it can still get you drunk, albeit not as much as liquor.

I was slowly introduced to better quality and strength beers like IPAs and stouts. I enjoy those exclusively now. I cant stand the fizzy yellow water shit I used to drink at parties, its awful.

This is a troll thread. I love bitter drinks, things like dark tea or over brewed tea. Hell I'll munch of the full leaves after drinking my green tea because once you develop a tolerance for bitter flavors you can taste how sweet they are. I love IPAs, sours, stouts, ales, bourbon barrel aged things, Belgian styles as long as there isn't too much diacetyl (naturally occurring "banana" flavor) in it. I like most things after giving them a few tries so I can pick out the appeal of them.

People are allowed to like things that you don't like. They can develop a taste for something through exposure and take joy/pleasure from it.

Yes and most beers are literally balanced out with malts. The only style I find bitter is the ipa and sometimes a hopped up stout. The latter will go away with a little time anyway.

I am sure people like it as everyone has their own preferences but I could never enjoy it. I don't like alcohol all that much either, just hit 30 so it is unlikely I ever will. I think it has to do with exposure to it and certain tastes.

I drink usually higher abv beers, tripels, quads, etc, or barleywines. I enjoy the complex fruity taste and boozy finish you get from these. I usually drink them at home because they are ridiculously expensive at most bars or restaurants.

They are not bitter generally. If you dont like beer go try a st bernardus 12 and see how that strikes you. If you still dont then to each their own. This thread is still super bait
