Do you guys seriously never nap?
Napping is the shit
It's like sleeping but you get to wake up after twenty minutes, scratch your ass, roll around, mutter some nonsense and sleep sgain
Most stores actually close for two hours every day so people can nap

Takes me 30 to 40 minutes to call asleep when tired. It would take me over an hour and a half to fall asleep in thr middle of the day.
Damn. Most of my vintage food adverts are on my laptop, which has a broken screen I need to replace.
The one I was going to post was a European political poster with a crayfish or a langoustine and a small glass that said something like,"You can't have crayfish without Schnapps!" And urging voters to vote against a prohibition ballot measure. The time of year when that country had crayfish/langoustine boils was coming up and they were reminding them that alcohol is not just for blackout alcoholics.
I think it was, anyway. It may have actually said something like, "You can't have crayfish, if we can't have Schnapps." Like, if you vote against us having a drink that goes well with crayfish, we're not inviting you to our boil.

Part of the reason for the siesta is the heat of mid-day, but, another part is the huge lunch. Their agricultural families would have the dudes go out and work very early after a light or no breakfast while the women folk start making a large meal. They return in the afternoon exhausted, famished, and hot, eat a ton, then you can't help but sleep.
I have trouble getting to sleep, too, but, that's because I usually am falling asleep to a playlist of downloaded TV. When I listen to podcasts with the screen dimmed and a white noise loop in the background, I get right to sleep.
