I got the "distiller's edition" couple weeks ago. Hadn't had good Scotch in an long time. Didn't blow me away at first, but after a few glasses, it's strikingly good. Not as salty/peppery as Talisker 10 though, which was a bit disappointing.

If you are drinking make sure you eat, its bad if you don't. I like hot dogs.

Let me tell you what I do OP. I usually do 2 at a time.

>Take the bun, spread some garlic margarine on it. Then, take a cheese slice, and put it in the bun.
>Microwave the bun so the cheese melts on it.
>Microwave the hotdog so it just about splits.
>Throw some mince white onion on it (mince like McDonalds onions)
>Put a bit of mayo, some Dijon mustard, and a little bit of ketchup (or BBQ sauce if you prefer)

Enjoy! The Recipe is all yours, friend!

Recently discovered a new drink, I was going to make a sour cherry gin cocktail but just missed the season for cherries. I ended up getting some maraschino cherries instead and it all worked out alright. Tastes like cherry 7up and I use 2oz of gin instead of the 1oz the recipe calls for

Oh yeah. Buchanan is a dead give away. Isn't it one of the few brands of scotch or blended whisky available in Mexico or something like that? Also I didn't even see the other car desu senpai. My bad.
>>
>>8031220
Lexus and Hennessy are both extremely popular in the black community brah. I grew up in it.
>>
>>8029348
Different anon here. This this used to help sometimes, but other times, the thought if alcohol would slip into my mind while doing something interesting, constructive or fun. It woukd make me feel somewhat guilty for depriving myself of enjoying these things fully, and this produced far worse cravings for much longer than boredom. Being bored actually prevented me from craving alcohol a lot of the time, since drinking itself got boring and I only craved it when withdrawals were numbing my enjoyment of things I wanted to enjoy.

I found it easiest to keep myself busy by doing constructive work which wasn't particularly fun, or mundane shit like mindless video games while listening to podcasts, stuff which passes the time but doesn't make you wish you were doing it drunk.
>>
>>8031220

Cognac, Hennessey in particular, is very popular in black culture.

Also, I find black people are more likely to drink less of a nicer thing rather than just whatever gets you loaded. Obviously that's not universal though. But I've never known white people my age to regularly drink Bombay Sapphire or Hennessy.
>>
>>8031341

"Nice cars" isn't really the thing that made the guy say black though. It's the Lexus name in particular. If that pic was of an Audi and Bulleit, there would have been no comment.

7 beers, a bottle of wine and a quart of gin and nothing has really hit me yet, should I keep going on Brandy or give up?
>>
>>8032045

I'd just give up at that point, either your stomach is full of food or you just aren't in the correct state to get drunk.

From my experiences if you keep going beyond exceeding your normal limit in these conditions you suddenly swing from too sober to feeling like a sick pile of garbage

Drank before work for the first time today, I can see why people do this now. Never been so relaxed for a morning shift in my life. A screwdriver or two made all the difference.

Yeah I spent a long time drinking before work, it feels good but it reaches a point where people definitely notice. If you're insistent then have a shot of something in the morning and nothing more because it's surprisingly easy to tell
>>
>>8032087

Yeah I'll only have a drink, 2 at the most. Thing is, 90% of my coworkers also have a drink before coming in, so I'm not in a scenario where I'd get fired if anyone found out.

My big thing is the drinking after I get home from the bar. I'll have 3 or 4 drinks at the bar, then come home and I used to drink at least 1/3 of a handle of bourbon on top of what I had at the bar. I didn't drink yesterday which was fine, but I think I'm going to today since I'm bored. My big thing is the boredom and the fact that the people above me are loud and a solid drunk helps me crash and sleep a little more soundly (even if I wake up hungover in the morning). Also, lately I've been cutting back on the drinking at home since I'm really trying to drink slower. Also, I try to eat more when I get back from the bar so after 2 or 3 drinks at home I don't feel even remotely buzzed, I just kind of give up and chalk it up as a loss since I know it'll just be me drinking more and more and probably end up puking without getting to the drunk point that I want to be at.

Kinda a convoluted mess right there, but those are a few of the things I've been doing lately.

This. Stay active one way or the other. Also, work out and get good and sweaty. The runner's high is no substitute for a good drunk, but it's something and will help. And if you're naturally tired, you're less likely to want to get drunk anyway. At least I am.

What's the verdict on a bottle of wine a night?

Fucking full-blown alkie?

Normie housewife level?

Somewhere in between?

I guess its kind of a dumb question for me because when I get to that I rapidly slip down the slippery slope into a bottle and a half or two bottles
>>
>>8034071
Normie housewife level in my opinion. It would depend where you're from though. Cultural norms will determine where on the spectrum you fall. I don't think a bottle of wine a night is all that crazy. Also depends on your tolerance. A bottle of wine wouldn't do jackshit for me, but I'm farther down the road than you and my tolerance is up to pretty ridiculous levels. Although to be fair, it's always been much higher than my friends.

But think about what pallette you already enjoy with non-alcoholic drinks. Try a beer that's unique or local; for fuck's sake please do not drink AB shit (Budweiser, the like). Like other Anon said, try something sweet to start for spirits. I personally enjoyed gin and pineapple juice.

Went to a tractor show and we were the last ones crushing cans, then came home and played cards with a few more schlities.

Woke up, the factory across the street was doing its "annual picnic," so we just walked over and got some good-ass steak sandwiches and corn on the cob. Open bar, so we got rum chata in our coffee, and there was a keg trailer with all-you-can-drink beer where I had a few Sprechers.

Live music, good food, free booze, and we don't even work there.

Go talk to some people dude. You'll die otherwise. It's tough, but just go hit up an AA meeting or see someone. At this point, you have nothing to lose. Stagger in somewhere if you have to, but just talk to some people and spend an hour or so with someone who can help you. AA, psychologist, therapist, whatever it may be.

I hope you get better dude. It'll be a bitch, but people have come out of worse situations before. It's all about the first step. Just have to take that first, proactive step.

Good luck bro. There's an anon out here truly rooting for you.

Okay all you lot need to find a doctor who will prescribe Naltrexone to you. Don't give up until you find a real doctor who actually can treat your condition. Naltrexone doesn't prevent drinking, but it prevents your problem which is binge drinking. Don't go to AA. You are not 'spiritually sick' you are 'actually sick' and ninety percent of you will get fixed up by Naltrexone.

In the meantime, prayer.

Maybe, but it'll be for the best dude. I use the fact that I've been traveling for the past year as an excuse. I'm not back into a regular routine with a 9-5 job and stuff yet, so I spend my days procrastinating on the job hunting and hitting the bar and then the bottle back at my place.

At least you have a set schedule and know what you'll be doing. Try and taper off a bit before you start applying and get into school. You don't still wanna be going full bore when you get into school. It's one thing to be hungover or drunk at school once in a while, it's another to be a true alchie. You'll end up missing class or not caring during it and the people in class WILL know you're a boozer which is embarrassing and uncouth.

My dad only just found out a month ago that he had terminal liver cancer which has also spreading to his lungs. He went to the doctor because he started getting pains, and that's when he found out. He might make it past Christmas.
>>
Handle a day guy here.

I have detoxed cold turkey and in hospitals many times. The danger is having a sezure with no one around to help you out of it. In the hospital they give you a few valium to lessen the likelyhood of sezure.

Detoxing feels like having a bad flu that you know full well you could cure in under a minute. It is very uncomfortable for the first few days. I always feel gross (many showers helps) have no apitite, and feel really guilty/like killing myself. My heart also beats out of control and I cannot thermoregulate. It sucks, but I know it will pass.

I am three days sober right now with the help of pot. I did it on my own again. I do not want to relapse again, but I also do not want to go to meetings because they are a big empty pitty and false encouragment party.

I wish booze could just vanish from the Earth.

when does this shit peak? day 2? any idea what im in for?
god dammit fuck this, i FUCKING HATE alcohol.
>>
>>8038342

i went up to 120 bpm after a 4 day binge, drunk the whole time but off of beer...and had been sober for a month or so before that...

for me i didn't sleep for 2 nights

heart rate came down within 24 hours after last drink

mood stabilized on third day and i slept soundly by the third night

everything was better by day 4

your consumption seems higher than mine was at that time, i think you'll see a similar time frame to mine though maybe a bit more extended
>>
>>8038365
>4 day
holy fuck, that's enough to cause this shit? i've been on it for months
oh i'm so fucked
i'm fucked, right?
fuck
>>
>>8038378

no you're not fucked

people have been tapering off of alcohol for centuries

one of the major effects of quitting alcohol is MASSIVE ANXIETY, aka you will make yourself believe that you are going to die

you're not going to die, you're going to sweat and shake and not sleep and maybe see some black spots, big fucking deal.

it's rough sailing but you're gonna make it through just fine

taper as needed with beer

you can always call 911 and be set up with a sweet sweet valium dose that will make all your problems go away but i would advise against that cuz of the medical bills
>>
yeah, you can die though... alcohol is the only known addictive substance that on its own with no external factors, can kill you for quitting cold turkey. Meth herion and coke cannot do that.
>>
>>8038398
how likely is it though? i mean scaring the shit out of someone going through this is going to make it massively worse
>>
>>8030266
I live 15 min west of Pomona. I'm gonna be brewing a milk stout soon.
>>
>>8038405
Read the medical literature. It's highly unlikely. It only kills like 60 year olds with existing health conditions, or like Amy winehouse who was anorexic and had trashed her body with cocaine and crack

Only 5% of detoxing alkies have DT seizures and only like 1% of THAT 5% die.

Don't let yourself get meme frightened.
>>
If you have been drinking enough to get the shakes and anxiety when you stop, you have also likely been living off gas station food and not living in the cleanest conditions. There is real reason to worry.

You will feel worse and worse for about 36-48 hours... then it starts to get better. Your confidence will come back after about 4 days, and if your cocky self does not talk you into a relapse, you will be out of danger for sezures in two weeks.
>>
>>8038415
going to re-read this post several times over the next few days. thanks anon.
>>
>>8038436
Bro...no. If you start to feel better then the seizure risk phase is already past.

Seizures occur when your withdrawal condition worsens and keeps getting worse.

Once the HR and BP stabilize at like day 3 - IF they stabilize- you are in the clear
>>
>>8038451
Fellow recovering drunk bro... you are in the wrong. You are not out of risk for seizures for two weeks. I have been through the medical lit, and down in and out patient, and cold turkey around 30 times. I quit talking shit around the same time I got sober. Just a coimncidence I am sure.
>>
>>8038515

all right, fair enough indeed

just seems weird...you detox, you're fine, you're sleeping well, you're eating, BP and HR are fine...then TWO WEEKS LATER a seizure?
>>
It has to do with brain chemestry and how your body uses alcohol in place normal neuro-processes.

If you make it two weeks, you should be considered safely detoxed. You will still be an alcoholic, but you will not be being physically affected by alcohol.
>>
>>8036624

Yeah, it's me.

The anxiet and overwhelming thoughts and the hyperawareness of your body as you detox is just shock. You know you could feel way better. You know what could do it. You know it is killing you ten differnt ways, and you halfway care.

You will start feeling better soon. You may feel worse first, but you are not going through this in jail right now. It can, and will be worse... unless you get a new fucking hobby.

Drink lots of ice water and take a lot of showers.
>>
>>8039033
thankyou anonymous.
here's a random offering of a pic of taylor swift, because i've fuck all else to offer to show my appreciation. im ok right now, 11pm and i've had 70cl so the shakes have fucked off, but they're coming. 6 hours from now and i know how i'm going to feel.
i don't want to do this.
thanks to you, all of you, for making it seem somewhat more achievable.
>>
If you can see the shakes coming, they will hurry up seeing as the surprise is already ruined.

It is the same way you will start feeling instantly better if you decide to find some booze; before you even drink it! Just when you mentally commit to go getting more soon. You will feel better.

Or you will feel like a gross piece of shit for a couple of days, then start to figure out how to repair your life. Take small steps towards being a better, less needy person.

You don't need to be a needy person. You have already proved you can transmute large volumes of poison and turn them into charm and a huge fucking mess. You are a God. You do not need booze.

Sweat it out. Smoke a lot of cigs and pot if you got em. Take many showers and constantly drink ice water.

How many of you guys have been so weak from withdrawal that you couldn't stand or walk? What has been the worse extent of your hallucinations? I'm deeply curious.

Personally, I've collapsed before. I didn't pass out, but I could barely talk. My girlfriend was on hand to give me a drink, not sure what would have happened otherwise. I used to get dissociation and disturbances in my perception, like I was on mushrooms. I had intense earwigs and every bit of ambient noise sounded like talking or music, sometimes quite vivid. I would get light strobes and morphing patterns, but no vivid visuals, no pink elephants etc.
>>
>>8039413
I have seen movement in anything I stare at, had auditory hallucinations real enough to scare me into jumping up yelling BAH!, and had horrible dreams that were still way better than being awake.

It sucks. We trained our brains to think they need to drink to function. That is why taking away alcohol feels like drowning, or dying and hopless. You are panicking because you are in shock. Your brain is setting off all sorts of alarms.

They will pass and as your nerves come back on line you will shake and feel like shit. That will pass too, and then you will feel beat up and guilty. That will also pass... after that you will mostlikely drink again to test yourself, fail the test worse than ever, and then do everything all over until something in you breaks.

Or, dont drink.
>>
>>8039439

I have done both.

I'd rather do it myself. No analysis that I have already done myself, and I get more out of being able to smoke pot and cigs than I do the valium and old magazines read between meatings.

nice pic. I see you are smelling your own farts and loving it.
>>
>>8039480
It is a test in a sense, but really it is just an excuse.

For me, drinking is always an excuse to avoid something I do not want to face. "I am too drunk to go to work safe... better call in, stay home and keep drinking."

Shit makes sense when you are drunk and can see your alarm is about to go off.

The drink just a little after being sober awhile test will itself just become another excuse. "Well, I fell off the wagon just a little. It felt great, but I know it could feel better so lets keep it going just a little while."

Sound familar to anyone?

I went to the dentist in July for the first time in 5 years. I would regularly go a month or more without brushing. I'm a filthy fucking faggot, I know. I had only one cavity which was filled without issue and on my checkup today after regular brushing they told me that my teeth and gums are in healthy condition. They need a whitening or three, but they're not rotting like you'd expect from the kind of neglect I've put them through.

Is it possible that chugging copious amounts of vodka daily actually saved my teeth by killing bacteria responsible for tooth decay?
>>
>>8039548
If you want to ward off withdrawl, use beer. get a case and ration them out over a day and a half. Two the firts hour, one every hour or so after. Start out slamming them, then try to nurse the last 12 as long as you can. It worked for me one time, and was less uncomfortable.
>>
>>8039617
seems plausible. my teeth are in great condition. gums bleed and my teeth may fall the fuck out, but still.
>>
>>8039617
i went 12 yrs. without seeing a dentist. during that time i drank 8-20 beers a day. i brushed and flossed once daily, in the morning before work. at night i was too hammered to brush again. after the 12 years i saw a dentist, i had only one "watch" spot--one potential cavity but not serious enough to treat then. the dentist complimented me on how clean my teeth were. i credit all that on the alcohol killing bacteria, and on my lack of interest in sweets due to booze.
>>
>>8039618
>beer
i can't remember the last time i could feel a single thing from beer. legit can't get enough of it inside me to catch a buzz... but yeah i guess it's more sensible than vodka. i mean im doing this to get sober, not to get drunk.

I have some sort of dissociative feeling which stops me feeling drunk now. I still get drunk, since I can tell by the way I talk and act that I'm more confident, and I generally enjoy things more. But no matter how drunk I get, there's no shift in perception like there used to be. My brain feels like it's in a constantly spaced state, and being drunk only makes me forget. It used to be at least somewhat mind altering for me.

I feel like that's the same thing I'm going through. I'm 23 and it began about 18 months ago. At first it produced panic attacks and crippling anxiety. Now, the edge has been taken off, but that dissociation and mild background anxiety still lingers. I struggle going out in public by myself, last time I sat on a bus without my gf I almost had my first panic attack in about a year. I used ti enjoy weed but can't anymore since it heightens the feeling tenfold and makes me panic.

I could barely even taste food before I got used to this feeling and learned how to focus on it. I'm still working on sex, since overthinking makes it feel weird and pointless and reduces the pleasure considerably.
>>
>>8039818
Honestly classic symptoms of severe anxiety

And you're at exactly the right age for onset, the stresses of real world life and whatnot

Consider an SSRI but it's not that necessary

You're shedding the last of your childhood delusions and innocence.

I've been there though with literally everything you are describing. There's nothing wrong with you and you're not going crazy. It's a reasonable response to this insane world.

Stay strong brother
>>
>>8039818
I had similar experiences at 21, brother. Find some talk therapy if you can through your doc. I'm on SSRIs and they can help, but again, talk to your doc. It can be managed, so don't give in.
>>
>>8039837
>>8039851
I'm understandably terrified of SSRIs or anything of the sort. I started using alcohol to medicate at first, which lead to my alcoholism. I was already a problem drinker so it was an easy transition.

I'm more on top of my drinking now, having not had a bender this year and I'm only drinking one or two nights a week. I still haven't had more than a couple of weeks off in God knows how long though, and so I was hoping someone might say it was alcohol related, that way I could look forward to feeling better after a month or two of abstinence.

It doesn't make me anxious or scared like it used to, just distant and numb. It doesn't hurt in the moment, but the hurt come with waiting day after day to get my soul back. I can't wait to wake up one morning and my eyes to see the world instead of an impression of it, to talk and connect with people instead of automatons, to eat food or have sex without drowning out the pleasure by contemplating what exactly pleasure is. I hate looking at my own girlfriend next to me and seeing only a manifestation of myself.
>>
>>8039935
It's just anxiety and maybe a slight existential crisis

You should always try to cut down on the alcohol of course but the alcohol isn't the root of the problem

>>
Does anyone get tongue pain? It happens every time I binge and go into withdrawal. As soon as I feel it starting I know I need more booze or the shakes are maybe an hour away. Right at the very back of my mouth, tongue hurts on the far left and right sides, and the whole thing tingles, as do my lips.
>>
>>8038398

Benzos can.
>>
>>8038415
10% of alcoholics develop the DTs on withdrawal and 33% of those who get them die without treatment. Don't bullshit the kid. A friend of my sister's died in his sleep at 24 when he decided to get sober by himself.

I'd highly advise anyone looking to detox to involve a doctor.
>>
>>8040625

I've been "detoxing" and have had some pretty bad DT's, but not bad enough to get to seizures. I've also not done a full day cold turkey and have had benzos and now am on a couple other meds... That said, I've known damn well for a good year that the drinking had gotten REALLY bad. Meaning, if you think you might be an alcoholic and might die if you stop drinking, but aren't sure, you aren't an alcoholic, and you aren't going to die if you stop drinking.

To get to the point where you're part of that 10%, you legit know that you have a problem and you feel like shit most of the day; it's not the kind of thing that all of a sudden sneaks up on you. It takes years of (somewhat) willing self-denial.

>a friend of my sister's died in his sleep at 24 when he decided to get sober by himself

From everything I've heard it's mostly after a couple days of increasingly severe withdrawal symptoms, rather than something that hits you out of nowhere in the middle of the night.

Yes. The thing is, the kid was so out of it during his withdrawal that he couldn't even make the decision to go to a hospital, and his father whom he was staying with to detox was and idiot who didn't realize that ethanol withdrawal can be fatal. Again, I would advise that you don't attempt it on your own, because if you get to the point where the DTs may kill you, you may not be cogent enough to seek medical attention.

Having found out yesterday that people suffer heart attacks without obvious symptoms, I'm paranoid I could've had one during my last detox about 8 months ago (still drinking once a week). My heart ached for a while, then i experienced a brief sharp pain from my chest to my shoulder blade. No fatigue beyond normal withdrawal or any breathing problems. No problems since then. I'm probably fine, right?
>>
>>8041287
i imagine people generally tend to know if they've had a heart attack. your pulse was probably racing (tachycardia or whatever it's called) and you probably had palpitations. i'm going CT right now and fucking everything hurts. face, liver, lungs, heart, limbs, the lot.

so. yeah. me again. i've just had a phonecall. i'm going to be arrested tomorrow by the looks of it, for something i allegedly did 5 months ago. now looking at 6 months inside. again.

fuck sobriety. i don't even want to live. alcohol may have done this to me, but it'll cure this stress too. im gonna buy 5 litres of smirnoff and slam the fucking lot. hopefully it'll fucking kill me. i cannot believe this is happening again. i can't cope. i can't do withdrawal as well as dealing with this new shit on top of everything. just fucking kill me. "leaving the scene of an accident". two counts.

get fucking sober, anons. i've been drunk for almost 1/4 of a century, and seemingly every single motherfucking thing for which i get into trouble, is massively related to alcohol. alcoholism will bite you hard, just when you thought you were recovering. fucking RUN.

Not Guilty. You always plead not guilty, especially if you did it!

Five days sober (except for pot). I went in to work before 8 AM this morning and put in a full day of very hard labor. I have no shakes or speeding heart, and am anticipating my first good nights sleep in nearly a week. I am sore, but I fucking should be.

Today, I am trying to be less of a selfish prick, and have stopped pretending I do not care if I live or die so I can drink with abandon.

That is what you are doing drunky. You are neither tragic or badass.

Not yet.

Drink ice water and take a shower. Taper with beer if you have to.

Brother, I'm here for you.

I'm a veteran that suffers really bad PTSD. I used to drink a handle every 2 days, and destroyed many relationships. I quit drinking and I'll tell you how:

>first, you have to be absolutely sick and tired of being sick and tired
>you have to make sure you're ready to quit. So over drink so you have a terrible hangover the next day
>tell yourself you're done fucking your body up and never want to feel like this again
>before any of this, order phenibut
>remember you have phenibut
>take a dose of phenibut
>your cravings and anxiety will go away
>use phenibut for a few days and it'll literally train your brain to not want alcohol
>stop taking phenibut once the jar is out

It's how I did it. I drank a handle of sailor jerry every two days for 2-3 years. I couldn't be alone with my thoughts if I didn't drink. It terrified me to quit but now I did and everything has been wonderful. Even managed to repair a few relationships.
>>
>>8044938
And realize you'll always be an alcoholic too. It's been over a year since I drank and the other day the thought of having a few drinks sounded amazing. But I persevered just like I know you will.

You are absolutely on a slippery slope. It's one step closer to not being able to do anything without drinking. Drinking in the morning is a massive red flag. I recommend going to AA for help.

Also, thanks for your service. I've dealt with some PTSD patients and been to a number of seminars and charities to raise money for PTSD and have spoken with a lot of vets. Cheers and thanks again for your service.

Question to more experienced al/ck/ooks:

How do I combine drinking and staying reasonably thin?

I am in my first year or two of regular drinking and I actually grew capable of maintaing life while being a drunk (or rather bear life so far via the magic of booze).

The only thing that makes this a serious problem is the fear of turning into a fat fuck. Trough all my life I managed to stay thin without too much of an effort, but I'm pretty sure that continous drinking might change that easily, and what's worse - irreversibly.

Is the progress of turning in that disgusting shape dependable on the type of alcohol? I generaly stick to beer which I assume is the worst option in terms of calories, though I sometimes swith to vodka when things get tough.

What is the best course of action to avoid gaining weight while sustaining the regular drinking program?

>>
>>8047777
It's easy just stop eating
>>
>>8047777

drink liqour/wine

avoid beer for your life
>>
>>8047777

It's impossible to avoid weight gain while drinking alcohol. Anyone who tells you otherwise is bullshitting you. Alcohol contains a ton of calories and in addition to that your body uses the alcohol for energy before food, so anything you eat while drinking turns straight into fat.

There are no shortcuts. I run 30 miles per week as a self-imposed punishment for my alcoholism. It is the exact opposite of fun but I do it because I don't want to get any fatter than I am already.

I never lost weight when I was sober either because I ended up craving sugary, fatty foods.

Willpower. Find it, somehow. I know this might not be helpful, but i'm just being realistic. Everyone that quits experiences exactly what you are going through. I definitely did.

Just curious, have you been to a doctor for a checkup to see where you're at? It also helps to be honest with them. Oftentimes they can/will prescribe something to help you sleep and make sure you don't have seizures.

.5 mg of xanax a night for 3 weeks helped me get back to a normal sleep schedule. The hardest part was the depression.

I'm not an alcoholic because I only drink on occasion, but when I do drink, I'm an extremely impulsive drunk whose only goal is to get as degenerate and shitfaced as possible. Just watch your calories. I drink fairly reguarly, and ever since I started watching my calories I've lost a good amount of weight. The only issue is a beer can be in the range of 200-300, so drinking more than 1 a day is basically out of the question.

Bro, don't do it (if you haven't already). I was sober for two and a half months, and my life had never been better. Then thought I could handle getting drunk once a week. Just once a week, that should work, right? And I've gone two and a half months, so why can't I go six days a week? Well, that immediately turned terrifying bender and heart palpitations, sweats, screaming in my sleep to wake the neighbors . .

I was able to stop again, thankfully, and promised not to drink again for at least two or three months. Made it to this past weekend and decided to test it again. Just weekend drinking, right? Well, overdrafted my checking account, destroyed a new carpet in my apartment, made a gash in my forehead that bled like crazy (thank God I wasn't passed out at that point), missed two days of work at a time when my bosses are already not too pleased with me.

I'm starting antabuse again today. I'm not going to trust myself to even think about drinking for a while. . . .

Anyway, bro, it's not worth it.
>>
>>8047813
It does. It almost completely undoes the harm to your liver done by alcohol if you drink enough of it. Have no idea how that works, but apparently it does. That being said, there are a hell of a lot of other maladies alcohol causes that it won't save you from, including heart problems. I'm probably on the verge of a heart attack if I go off the wagon a few more times. But year, if you drink tons of coffee, your liver is fine.

Low carb diet, only drink spirits with diet mixers.

I lost two stone (28 pounds) doing this a couple of years ago.

Breakfast - a couple of boiled eggs and a couple of good quality hotdog sausages, or three or four boiled eggs depending what you like/whats in the fridge

Lunch - 300g - 400g lean ham/chicken with half a cucumber and some bell pepper

Evening meal - one or two pork or lamb chops, or a steak or a chicken breast grilled on the George Foreman. Serve with broccoli, courgette, bell peppers or salad.

To drink - whiskey, rum, gin or vodka, (minimum 37.5% abv) neat or with a diet mixer.

If you stick to a high protein, low carb diet, you will find you often get home and aren't hungry in the evening. By all means skip your evening meal and just have an extra gin and slimline tonic instead.

THIS IS CRUCIAL. this is not a diet you can "cheat" on. You need to get good at looking at packaging and checking the grams of carbs per 100g of food. Google will help you for unpackaged food like veggies etc.

DO NOT EAT ANY FOOD THAT EXCEEDS *5g of Carbs per 100g of food* EVER.

If you're not sure. Do not eat it.
If it's processed meat (burgers, sausages, chicken bites, meatballs, meatloaf, whatever) and you haven't seen the ingredients and carbs, Do not eat it. (often processed products have rusk and other fillers added to make the meat go further that pushes the carbs up above 10g per 100g)
If it's just a bite of someone else's hash brown. Do not eat it.
If a McMuffin would help your hangover. Do. Not Eat. It.

Google LCHF (or low carb, high fat) for recipe ideas, or Atkins Induction Phase. But stick to the rules above. No alcohol apart from spirits (you may read that some wine is ok. It isn't) Nothing to eat with carbs above 5g per 100g. And as much as possible, stick to lean meat, grilled with salad or the veggies listed above.

Last but not least, buy a decent daily multivitamin that will meet all your vitamin and mineral needs including iron.
