How do you survive on $4 a day?
>>
You do realize flour, potatoes, and dried beans are a thing, right? They give you practically unlimited calories for almost nothing.
>>
>tfw spoonfeeding

$1 breakfast, $2 lunch, 1$ evening snack

idiot.
>>
>>7975483
sorry I should have said thrive instead of survive.
>>
>>7975484

if it were me I would probably just do 2 meals at $2 each, that way you get the added benefits of daily fasting

>>
>>7975514
I like friend shrimp :)
>>
apply yourself and make $50 for a Costco membership, buy rotisserie chickens, survive.
>>
>>7975489
he's not far off

you could probably pull off ramen for brunch and red beans and rice topped with a sausage for dinner

you also might be able to make a big batch of chili and make it last

Yeah, no.
>>

you could substitute a jar of white biscuit gravy on sale for a little over a dollar and the chipped beef packets are usually a dollar
>>
>>7975463
If you are in a rural or semi rural area you can learn to forage for common edibles. Or you can learn to dumpster dive. Also take up fishing. Learn where soup kitchens and food pantries are. Many pantries can also hook you up with stuff like toilet paper, soap and other small items.
>>
>>7975587
>premade gravy
You've never been poor, have you?
>>
>>7975612
Not this poor, no. But I'm trying to help at least. What about oats for breakfast? Is that doable in op's region?
>>
>>7975627
The quick rundown then:
anything premade is a money sink. If you're not living on a super thin margin, usually it's not enough to worry yourself over, but if you are on the margin, it's killer. Like premade gravy? It's not as good, but you can make a gravy with just oil, water and flour.

Oats are a good poverty food, basically think on staples: beans, rice, pasta, oats. Then a little stuff to add in to make the above more palatable.
>>
For me it is four McChickens, the best fast food sandwich.
>>
>>7975463
I've live on 25 a week for the past two years in college

I've done just fine with what I buy

usually something like
>rice
>beans
>cheese
>sour cream
>tortillas
>bread
>pasta
>sauces
>hot dogs occasionally
>flour
>sugar
>syrup
those are the basics of what I buy every week
>>
4 4oz bags of cheese curls from the dollar tree
>>
>>7975463

3 one dollar banquet meals. there are probably 25-30 different varieties. use the rest to purchase frozen broccoli
>>
beans and rice is your best option, sweet potatoes are good as well, you arent going to be eating anything fancy but you'll be healthy and fully fed

>>
>>7975514
I want to decapitate that slut and fuck her corpse.
>>
go to a local soup kitchen and also apply for food stamps
>>
>>7975463
The answer is dried grains+beans. And get an electric pressure cooker, because they're too much of a hassle to cook without one. Frozen vegetables are also excellent, cheaper and more nutritious than fresh.
>>
Let's imagine you're doing all of your shopping for the week up front

28 bucks could pretty surely pick you up chicken thighs, which I've seen in packs of 4 for maybe five bucks

Several pound bags of rice, lentils, beans, or what have you for pretty cheap and you're likely to not go through the whole bag

Big fucking tube of oats

And I'm sure I'll get autists screaming at me about it but potatoes too

And if you're in dire straits, hitting up soup kitchens and seeking gubmint help shouldn't be below you

Don't forget carrots and rice, my friend
>>
>>7975463
For me i actually have to do this. Rice, carrots soy sauce and salt for flavouring. Then chickpeas, tuna, eggs(a bit costly) or some other kind of beans for a protein.

Some times I'll get some luxury and buy colliflower , cabbage or broccoli. I think i eat okay even though I'm ridiculously poor.
>>
>>7975636
This. Oats a perfect! Flavor it with either apples, honey or jam. Then you can eat breakfast every day for pennys.

28 bucks a week could get you a decent amount of sandwiches. $2-3 for a loaf of bread, ~3 dollars for a thing of ham or turkey. I'm probably overvaluing it because I'm googling bread prices

That's like 1-2 sandwiches a day per week for roughly 6 dollars. I'd probably die doubling it to 3 sandwiches a day and spending 16 dollars on fruit juices and things like lettuce and cheese. That was basically how I lived going through elementry school. How malnourished would I end up?

She wrote a book on how to eat healthy with only 4$ a day.
Pdf is free give it a go.
>>
>>7975463
$4 a day comes out to about $120 a month. The trick if you only have that $4 each day for instance from tips or something is to but carryover items. These would be items that last longer than a day.
Loaf of bread
Eggs
Pack of balogna
Hot Dogs
Rice
Pasta
Peanut Butter
Jelly
Oats

As you gather up items you can then afford to spend a day on more expensive items with some of the left over money from previous days or just with the $4 you have each day like maybe a cheap package of chicken, sliced cheese. A pound of ground beef, Mustarrd, mayo, Milk, Cereal, etc.

Avoid eating fast food.
Fix your own meals including brown bagging your work lunch.
Try to improve your cash flow so you have more sheckles to spend each day.

Buy a chick for a dollar every other day until you managed to get 10.
Go to bakery's before closing and either ask for stale bread or wait until they throw it out
Come back home and feed them the bread
In 3 - 6 months you can kill them for food
Remember to acquire 10 new chicks a month
>>
>>7977151
but what do you feed them?
>>
>>7977151

Breakfast:
Oats, cheap toast with leftovers, fresh fruit if it's cheap.

Lunch and dinner:
Buy big bags of chilli flakes, salt, and cumin, along with oil. Lentils/beans and rice/pasta/couscous/polenta with cheap (possibly frozen) vegetables will be your staple, seasoned with the cheap spices you bought in bulk, and supplemented with small quantities of canned fish and minced beef every now and then.

Don't forget the oil, especially if you're not adding meat or fish, you'll need the fat. And don't try to save money by loading up on carbs, they'll just make you hungrier.

.95 for a steam bag of corn
.95 for a steam bag of veggies × 3
7.78 for 2.25 pounds of boneless skinless chicken thighs

For brekkie 4 eggs .84 or $1 to round. Homeade bread at .50 a loaf which supplies 12 slices 2 slices for brekkie 8 cents for 2 slices. 1 potato for hashbrown .15 Total breakfast cost $1.23 sometimes it increases if I add OJ or bacon.

Lunch chicken I buy 2 whole chickens for $14 at $7 each they can supply lunch dinner for 4-5 days bones including for stock/soup. Best deal here but I'm lazy to calculate so I'll use chicken thighs. 0.45 for chicken thighs in my local ethnic market I'll buy 20 pounds for $9 which are about 46 chicken thighs. $0.19 each thigh 2 for lunch. 0.38 for protein rice is pennies for seving. Broccoli 8 oz is .35 half bell pepper .35 half onion .25 lunch price is $1.33

Dinner 2 chicken thighs 0.38 2 potato 0.30 1 half onion .35 2 carrots 0.14 rice broccoli 0.35 Stock .15 to make gravy.

Dinner $1.67

$4.23 total this doesn't calculate cost of spices nor cooking oil but I do reuse bacon grease and do use chicken fat if I don't make gravy to make my next days lunch.

In Australia, from the local supermarket i'd go:

$1.10 bag of oats
65 cent can of beans
65 cent can of sardines
$1.60 1kg mixed veggies (shitty stuff, but it won't kill you)

Now I'm obviously missing fruit, but considering I won't eat a whole bag of oats in one day, I'll assume I can put the savings towards some cheap stuff

Just pool together the 28 for a week and buy staples: rice, potatoes, chicken in bulk, frozen veggies etc. Pretty much how I lived in college. I also bought bananas since they were cheap and delicious and a 6L package of water since tap water in my area is really basic. With some budgeting I could afford eating out on weekend on a local kebab place

Also, it's worth noting both my grandmas are farmers and raise animals so I was able to get fresh veggies and eggs for free sometimes.

You're getting ripped off. Find out where immigrants shop, go there.

>you can't just eat carbs... you need protein and fats
Grains+beans gives you complete protein. Oil is very cheap per calorie.

Look up the brothers green eat on youtube. They have a few videos on how to survive on 3$ a day. The stuff they make seems restaurant level. But they start with 21$ and buy things for the whole week, wich is the smart thing to do
