Crock pots are for lazy shits who have the cooking skills of a teenage girl. They are literally useless outside of keeping something warm for a potluck luncheon. Example: stew. You need to brown the meat and deglaze and sauté mirepoix in a separate pan then add it to the crockpot for it to be any good. A filthy casual will just dump shit in there and go wa-la! A Dutch oven is far superior cooking vessel for most meals desecrated by a crockpot. One pot. One meal.

Fuck you slow cooker haters. I use mine to make God-tier pea and ham soup, pumpkin soup, corned beef, curries, coq au vin and rice congee, among other things.
Anything that uses a long, wet cooking environment is going to work well in a slow cooker.

i'm not sure if they're all like that, but the last slow cooker i had heated from the sides instead of just the bottom like using a pot on a stove. it heated more evenly compared to cooking in a pot on the stove.

sometimes for things like beans cooked on the stove, it'll start with a lot of water and slowly reduce, meaning i have to monitor it and turn down the cooking temperature as the water reduces.

a slow cooker can be useful, and it's nice for busy people who still want a meal that takes hours to cook. obviously browning meat and sauteing veg will add more flavor to a stew, but a stew without browned meat/sauteed veg won't be inedible.
