Depends mostly on where it's made.
Chain places I think 3 toppings not including cheese is the most I'll get at a time.
Pizza places that know what they're doing and use decent ingredients I like 2 at most so the flavor isn't too busy.
If it's a homemade pizza, 2 to 4 toppings depending on quality of what's on hand.
Five is the limit. Depending on the flavours on the pizza, four or maybe even three is more realistic.

>go to local blaze pizza
>olivani mozzarella, garlic pesto sauce, pepperoni, salame, sausage, jalapeno, banana peppers, basil, mushroom, artichoke, onions, oregano
I then put on Sriracha and parmesan cheese after it comes out the oven
Fucking amazing
we always get papa johns the works, which is
Pepperoni, Canadian bacon, spicy Italian sausage, onions, green peppers, mushrooms and black olives
we remove the onions though and add pineapple. And extra cheese, but that's not another topping. So 8 is about perfect.

Why not ask for no fucking onions?
Whats considered a combo pizza is too much for me.
Beef, sausage, onion, green pepper, green olive, black olive, canadian bacon, pepperoni. So I guess 8 is too much. 3-5 is ideally the most i'll order on a pizza (if you're not counting switching out sauces).
