I've never had any, thinking of buying some, but I want to get a general idea of what it tastes like beforehand. I hear that in some brands they add other ingredients besides mushrooms, which is why I'm a bit tentative.

Mushroom ketchup is pretty good, a nice addition to a bolognese or a vegetarian alternative to Lea & Perrins.

ketchup wasn't originally made with any tomatoes, the product in the OP is more like the early versions of ketchup

think mushroom-y Worcestershire Sauce. It has a vinegar base, but is quite delicious in stock and stews. I also drink a small shot of it neat now and again, for a flavor hit if I'm fasting.
It tastes like mushrooms

you can make ketchup out of anything, tomatoes are just the most popular

Thanks for telling me. I think I'll try it at some point.

I just received this as a gift recently actually.
It's very, very good but nothing like American tomato ketchup. It's closer to Worcestershire sauce.
It has an earthy flavor of mushrooms, but it also has vinegar and strong flavor of clove. It's great in stews and bean dishes. I also add a little to salad dressings.
