>I'm not a web
You ain't foolin anybody Op

i never really cared for the strawberry frosted kind. the thicker pretzel with jelly in it was good. i liked the lotte kind with almonds. the snack aisles at the asian markets are full of good shit like that.
Is mochi a dish? If yes I choose that.
>>7923636
It's all pretty bland really.
>>7923636
shabushabu
udon
tonjiru
wafu pasta
doria
pizza
hayashi rice
summer ramen [cold/soupless]
look the low down is there really isnt any major dish that isnt excellent
japanese people obsess over food. many restaurants specialise in only one thing.
the only problem is finding places that do particular dishes very well / the way you like them
I can really dig a good kimchi
>>7924662
i hope this is a joke referring to when that japa soccer player said his favourite jp food was kimchi
Honestly, a big old Chirashi bowl from a good quality place that gives you the best stuff they have that day is probably my favorite meal in the entire world.
I've always wanted to try Oden because it looks kinda neat but processed fish and mountain yam jelly in fish broth probably sucks
kaarage, its like fried chicken that wasnt made for niggers
Omurice
Donkatsu
Okonomiyaki
BBQ Eel, I forgot the name of it.
But chirashizushi is still my favorite

>love daifuku mochi
>pain in the ass to go across town to buy the specific flour required
gdi. I've actually yet to go because it's just so out of my way. Might stop tonight and get it as I'll be in the area...Fucking mochiko is prohibitively expensive anywhere else.
I hate that the regular grocery marks up ethnic/japanese ingredients like 5x what the damn asian grocer on the other side of town sells it for. "White privilege" is paying 5x prices apparently.
Gonna pick up mochiko, umeboshi, wakame, dry shiitake, random instant ramens, panko, tea, and some rice noodles.
My favourite is probably takoyaki. Really good snack food for fairs and stuff. The Japanese student exchange club would always sell them at events at my university. Oyakodon, katsudon and zaruudon are pretty tasty. Omurice is good lazy food. Mochi is a good dessert but it looks like a pain to make myself so I buy the Taiwanese ones at the store instead.
Takoyaki
Gyudon
Shabu Shabu
Sukiyaki
Yakitori
Geso
Katsudon
Karaage
Ikayaki
Kurogoma tantan men
Hiyashi Chuka

>>7924212

Broiled Eel.
>>7923676
Chicken liver ftw
Isn't curry Indian?
>>7923636
Shabu-shabu and takoyaki
>>7926126
Japanese have thier own take on it.
Same way you wouldn't call an American pizza an Italian pizza.
You can't make authentic Japanese food in the West so don't even bother. The core ingredients are lower quality, and how can you make a magnificent building on poor foundations?
Instead find out what the closest haute cuisine is for your climate and start there.
CORA AND CHIPPU
>>7926142
I made a pretty decent okonomiyaki with shit from H-mart (local korean/jap place). They had the sauce and flour and everything. Not particularly hard and it tasted roughly equivalent to what I had in Japan.
Yakiniku is my favorite btw
hamburg steak
>>7926200
can you tell me how not to royally fuck up my own okonomiyaki? do you need to process the cabbage super fine? do you need to pour the batter kinda thin? cause I feel like mine are so thick and coarse they are impossible to cook correctly. that was my first time of course.
>>7926161
U no tell me
>>7923668
You sir are a true gentleman shabu shabu all the way
>>7926142
If you have pacific ocean privilege, then yes, you can quite easily and the squinty eyes have been doing it for a while now.
Vancouver for instance has god tier asian food, i'm convinced its the best place for sushi next to Nippon.
>>7923636
Unagi was the best thing I've had in Japan.
Almost eat this daily by the end of my trip 8 years ago
>>7926142
You actually can even in the UK which has a relatively small Japanese population there are some great import places and very authentic tasting restaurants.
When i say the UK though I mean London.
>>7928053
this guy is pretty talented worth a watch.

My top 5 dishes not on there and not including stuff like Karaage. Funny enough there are no fish dishes, even though Japanese food is supposedly fish based there are probably more options for eating meat. The main difference is that elements of fish from seaweed/bonito make the way into meat dishes.
Katsudon
Yakisoba
Omurice
Tempura udon
Gyudon
Japanese sweets/dessert/cakes are also really good, they take Baking and stuff super seriously and once you get over the fact that it tastes slightly different to in the west its real good.
>>7928458
Eel is shit the eel sauce is the only reason its even remotely palatable.
Negimaki
>>7928490
I had Fried eel with garlic in France and it was pretty good
I guess eel is like scallops, it's a hit or miss thing.
>>7923636
MISO
>>7928445
>Vancouver for instance has god tier asian food, i'm convinced its the best place for sushi next to Nippon.
Only if you by Vancouver mean Hong Kong.
>>7923636

fuck yeah orgon meat.
>>7928458
this used to be my favorite food but unfortunately those eels are really endangered so I try not to order them.
