Hello /ck/. A question to all the cu/UK/s here. I recently moved to London and so far I havent liked any of the food I purchased at Tesco. Where do you guys get your produce from? The thing I need most is fruits, tomatoes and meat. But any advice and experiance you can share would be great. Thanks in advance

Waitrose is your high quality supermarket, but pricey.

Lidl and Aldi are budget but do good bakery and fresh stuff

Morrisons is decent for their fresh market stuff but is similar to tesco all in all

Look for small independent markets, butchers and such as well as they do better fresh goods than the main stream supermarkets here
>>
Paki's Off License & Liquor

soon it'll be all you'll have

Im here to work for a bit and then im off to uni in Leicester

Waitrose essentials stuff isn't that expensive and the shop is nicer plus option of real high quality stuff if desired. My supermarket of choice as it has good terms for the workers and supply chain

Sainsbury's is mid tier, above tesco and Morrisons

Also and lidl good for a laugh/cheap stuff but not all good quality. The aisle of kitchenware/socks/fishing rods/any old shit is always worth a browse

Asda can be cheap but very very depressing to be in, again don't expect best quality

Avoid tier: Iceland, nisa, coscutters, netto

I'm sorry

Morrisons is the worst.
The colour scheme is all wrong and staff wear baseball caps for fucks sake!
>>
>>7922331
thanks man, you have no idea how much this is helping me

>>7922340
why?
>>
co-op is actually good quality produce and has good customer focus but shitty pr meaning they are losing market value - i'd make this my main supermarket if there was a decent sized one closer to me
waitrose is good for fancy ingredients but i wouldn't do all my shopping there, even for the essentials range
sainsburys to me seems like roughly the same quality as tesco but for more money - i avoid it
morrisons is good for fresh meat if you don't have a butcher
tesco is fine if you have simple tastes - i shop there a lot as it's the closest to me, but i get veg from a local stall outside a newsagents
depending on where you are in london there'll likely be some exotic specialist world cuisine shops around worth looking for, and butchers and fishmongers and bakers
>>
fresh produce is often better at the international supermarket type places than actual supermarkets. meat, eh just find a butcher. where are you in london?
>>
For tomatoes, visit your local farmers market or use tinned tomatoes. You won't find nice fresh ones in supermarkets, though the premium varieties e.g. Sainsburys organic are passable.

In terms of other stuff, Waitrose gets good produce but Sainsburys has the best meat. Butchers are hit and miss, depending on where you live.

>Waitrose gets good produce but Sainsburys has the best meat.

lol wot

waitrose PASTES sainsburys at meat hands down
>>
>>7923261
im next to kew gardens. I found a butcher nearby so thats good
>>
Check lidl once a week for bargains

Use Tesco/Sainsburys as your main go to

Use a butchers/bakers if you can for meat and breads. Being a regular at your local butchers has it's perks (my local butcher wanted to trial some new spicy sausages he made and gave me some for free and wanted my feedback)
>>
>>7922251
Best and most expensive is waitrose
2nd best and second most expensive is marks and spencers

Sainsburys is the best happy medium, its produce is better than tescos and roundabout the same price

Then co-op, tescos, asda, morrisons aldi, lidl in that order

Aldi is good meat and veg but shit for everything else

Go to farmers markets or more likely in London go to old school street fruit and veg markets. Lots of the immigrant areas have fresh produce from every part of the world there. West Indian and Asian produce markets are pretty common.

> moves to london
> then leicester
Holy fucking shit anon. I hope you like pakis

you can normally get a 5kg bag of onions for around £2 from any Paki shop with a veg display outside. Also they sometimes do a tray of 30 eggs for £1.99. Don't expect free range tho, they are total madmen when it come's to animal welfare!
