To fly someone halfway around the world and to have purchased it at top dollar means that there is something wrong with local waters there, from pollution to scarcity, or maxed out seasons not supplying demand. Go the world over and you will see former fishing villages living on tourism alone, with old sea captains dead and retired, and inheriting sons taking out tourists to sightsee instead. Properties are for sale for cheap, because no jobs. Did we overfish all of the seas? Japan might think so, hence their traveling far and wide.

What makes Japan so different about eating whatever they damn well please, ie whales? The government is on the side of the fisherman because demand is that high from the populace, one can only assume that or they are appointed from positions of family importance, bottom dollars, and not from environmental education.
