American 'Mexican Food' usually has the texture and appearence of drunk throw-up.

Literally I could walk into any Mexican Restaurant, order something, eat it, puke it back onto the plate, and I bet I could send it back to the kitchen for a refund.

Tex-Mex is just our regional cuisine man. There's still restaurants around here that serve the traditional stuff. Mexicans brought their barbacoa and al pastor and Americans brought the cheese and fried shit. If you can't enjoy it, that's on you. I'll admit it looks like slop sometimes, but it's the most delicious slop I've ever tasted.

not inherently, but americans have tastes and traditions and access to ingredients and equipment that influenced migrant cooks to adapt their cuisine. pretty fucking common. any cuisine arising from cultural fusion with america or britain in the last couple of centuries is kinda shitty because we didn't have the agriculture or infrastructure to actually translate the cuisine wholesale so it got adulterated with preserved foods and inferior substitutions.

Because in America we have to turn everything into a cheeseburger. Tacos get made with ground beef and topped with cheese. Spaghetti and meat sauce? Go heavy on the meat, and cover it with cheese. Pizza? Be sure to put enough neat on there.

The only thing we haven't managed to turn into a cheeseburger is Chinese food, but we make up for that with extra salt, fat and sugar.

Salvadorans by me faked me out, I went to a taco place which had a Mexican flag on the sign, then i go in and it was clearly Salvadoran owned (there are barely any Mexicans where I live, but a lot of Salvadorans).It wasn't very good.
