Is beer can chicken an empty meme? I don't think it actually does anything.
It doesnt.
depends. it spreads out the bird allowing heat to penetrate more evenly. if you're cooking it over coals or whatever the legs absorb more of the heat, breaking down more and protecting the breast. the beer evaporates and bastes the bird from the inside and probably helps to ensure the breast meat nearest the bone cooks at the same rate as the outside. i'm not sure how much of an effect it has flavour wise but the aromas will perfume the bird somewhat obviously depending on the beer. it also helps fat drain from the bird. i'm sure if i continued to think about it i could drum up some other advantages. but yeah vertical roasting is a pretty common thing and it does have advantages even if you take away the presence of the beer.
WTF happened to the other thread? Fucking overzealous mods, this board is going to shit
Anyone try it with sodas?
enjoy salmonella from the chicken not cooking all the way through because of the liquid

did it few times with red wine marinade it was good.
got me kind of thinking of trying a chelada chicken.

That's not how beer can chicken is done. No liquid goes in the chicken. Which, incidentally, is one of the reasons it has no real effect.
It`s a nice, lean way to cook chicken since you`re basically steaming it. The flavor left behind by the beer will be really subtle. To boost the flavor, toss some peppercorns or other whole spices in the beer, and jam some fresh herbs and a scoop of unmelted butter into the bird before you jam the beer can up there. I make it all the time and the results are really great.

Don't know if I should be happy or sad that I get the reference.

You shove a partially full can of beer up a chicken's asshole and that helps cook it and keeps it really moist.
>>7766123
Thats obviously bollocks
Just use an empty can for the style and presentation. The chicken will be moist if you cook it right.
(99% of barbecue owners are normies and can't cook it right)
similar to the beer can idea..
enjoy vaporizing the BPA lining in the beer can and making a nice Xenoestrogen basted chicken
>>7765681
Can i use this?
>>7766856
The point is that beer steam cooks it and imparts flavor. Nobody's saying that you can't cook moist chicken without it, but that's not the point of this thread then, now is it, genius?

Bro! I do science too!

>is this a meme? is that a meme? Please tell me exactly what to do so you won't call me reddit.
>>7767008
You seem to entirely missing the point of using a can of beer.
>>7768234
But it doesn't steam cook it from the inside, or impart any flavour.
Its a bullshit barbecue 'meme' popularised by red necks.

Seriously a dildo up a dead chickens ass?
Enjoy your ban.
>>7768334
Nah. it's food related the same way that mcdonalds cheese burgers are related - even though the BPA lining of the can will give you cancer, technically you can eat it and not die within 24 hours.
The fucking ass clown mods on this board eat this shit up for breakfast, lunch, second lunch, and dinner.
Beer can chicken is very tasty, best way to cook it
