I dunno, for me it was delicious almost instantly. And I had some pretty bad experiences with it before I gave it a real chance.
Not all blue cheese is the same though, some is a lot milder than others, and even I can't do the really hardcore stuff

Blue cheese should be crumbled if you're going to put it on a burger.

I'd usually say there's no such thing as too much cheese, but having a solid block as thick as the burger is just dumb.
