Why does food always taste better when someone else makes it?

Idk man some people suck ass at cooking

because it means I don't have to get out of bed

even on the cook's day off, I have my valet take over the cooking duties and he makes a bang up grilled cheese sandwich among other tasty goodies, all eaten in bed as God intended

I feel different. Most of the times i feel like "I could have made this better". Sometimes I am positively surprised though but those times I go to proper restaurants and have to pay 30 euro and up for a meal.

Olfactory fatigue is a part of it. When you're cooking you expose yourself to the tastes and fragrances of your ingredients as you add them which makes it more difficult to fully appreciate the finished product.

no, he was talking about the effect that cooking has on your ability to taste it, you made an inference about the effect it has on how much you *want* it. it's a different thing and a 'superior writer' would notice that.
