breakfast is a dumb meal
supper is a dumb meal

the only two meals you need are dinner and brunch
>>

Eat only a giant lunch each day to grow some big-ass titties.

I only eat dinner and I have abs. My dinners are like 2500 calories
>>

>brunch

It's not quite breakfast, it's not quite lunch, but it comes with a slice of canteloupe at the end. You don't get completely what you would at breakfast, but you get a good meal.
>>

No.
>>
>>7685853
No calories in v calories out.

Thyroid disorders account for 5-10lbs maximum, there are some disorders where the body doesn't store fat. This is not you with the "high metabolism".

If you are not counting calories by weighing your food you don't know how many calories you're eating so don't bother trying to tell people you eat 2k a day when you weigh 300lbs, and you don't eat 3.5k a day and weigh 150lbs without doing exercise.

>>

By not having an emotional attachment to food via. comfort eating, I guess?

Don't you have trouble getting through the morning without breakfast? I remember plenty of people almost passing out during classes because they hadn't eaten anything.

>I remember plenty of people almost passing out during classes because they hadn't eaten anything.

Where was this; boot camp?
>>
>>7685853
No. both breakfast and dinner have to stay small, and lunch is your main intake.
If you exercice a lot you can get extra calories with juice and fruits in the day, but not enough to warrant another meal.
>>
>>7685926
Unless you're doing extremely demanding work, breakfast is nothing but a shit ton of extra calories for no reason. Your body will adjust to whatever food schedule you put it on and not eating between 9 PM and 12 PM is one of the easiest adjustments to make
>>
>>7685926
that's not the food, that's people who don't get enough sleep.
If anything eating lots of calories in the morning suck up energy and makes you sleepy.
>>
>>7685926
Coffee.
>>
>>7685928
Nah, just high school. I'm not hungry in the morning either but I also get a bit lightheaded during lectures if I don't eat at least something.

>>7685925
Where are you from that not having an afternoon snack is not the most normal thing in the world?

>>7685943
Might be, but I always heard people talking about lack of sugar.

>>7685946
Coffee and a pastry is the way to go every morning.

Why do you people care so much about those extra calories though? Are you on some very strict /fit/ regime or something? At least have a bowl of cereal or something, your grannies would dissaprove of this fuckery.
>>
>>7685950
>Nah, just high school

Then nobody was passing out because they skipped breakfast. Maybe if they'd skipped three days of meals entirely, *then* they might be passing out.

"It must be because I didn't eat breakfast" is what 14 year old girls say because they have no idea how their own body works and that you can't stay up until 3am on the internet/partying/getting stoned and be alert and awake after 4 hours of sleep.
>>
>>7685950
>Where are you from that not having an afternoon snack is not the most normal thing in the world?

Apparently another universe. I mean unless we're going to count a cup of tea as a "snack"? I might occasionally have a biscuit with the cup of tea but surprisingly, yes I can survive an "entire" afternoon without passing out if I don't eat something between lunch & dinner.
>>
>>7685950
>Why do you people care so much about those extra calories though? Are you on some very strict /fit/ regime or something? At least have a bowl of cereal or something, your grannies would dissaprove of this fuckery.

>Things only fat people and underage kids say
>>
>>7685942
I have a demanding schedule I think; study from 9-4 work from 5-12 monday to Friday. I exercise every morning and commute by bicycle.

The thing is I try to eat at 12-1am just before bed so I cover the next day up till about 2 or 4pm. I have some grapes in the morning while I execise.
>>
>>7685958
Nah, some people were just pretty frail in general. I never had that problem but I knew some people who were actually liable to faint if they skipped breakfast. I only get a bit lightheaded sometimes if I get hungry but that's about it.

>>7685964
I guess the merenda isn't a global thing.

>>7685965
Must be tough having genes so shit you actually get fat from eating breakfast.
>>
>>7685950
>I always heard people talking about lack of sugar.
people don't know shit about themselves. It's all about staying up late at night doing shit and waking up early and finding excuses because you know everybody will tell you it's dumb to stay up to 2AM on your deviantart/tumblr/facebook page.
To get low sugar problems you need to either have some genetic illness, or going under hell of a shitty diet for a long time.
Typically lots of teens are low on iron or magnesium because they eat junk food and cheap poulty all the time. Iron is especially a problem with girls for obvious reasons, but boys with hemoroids are also likely to get them. Especially since Iron stocks up slowly in the body, so people think one meal will save it, when it requires 3 weeks of care to replenish it correctly. (my 2 cents from personal experience)

Idiots, the only proper order is to not eat anything at all. Then you can't go wrong.
>>
>>7685971
Im actually pretty thin and fit compared to most people in the country. I can eat like a slob if I want but I'd rather be fit with a nice body, instead of an average with a body nobody cares about.

Plus in your 20s is when you setup your body for the rest of your life, even if you can eat like crap and not gain much weight when you're younger it does catch up to.

You havent said why you can't just skip breakfast besides the fact you can't help but shove empty calories in there. Bet you have a soda with every meal too and think its nothing affecting anything.
>>
>>7685853
I like wake up early so I can make myself/buy a good breakfast I can enjoy at my leisure. In the decade I worked abroad in Hong Kong doing the fiber optic thing I got used to having steamed rice with ham and eggs for breakfast.

Now that I'm back in the states shining a seat with my ass I don't need all that food so it's just coffee, bagel/toast more coffee and a bit of fruit. Moderate lunch, light dinner.
>>
>>7685985
I'm not arguing you shouldn't, I just find it weird that you do. I'm used to the southern Euro staple of 5 daily meals (breakfast, lunch, merienda, dinner and night snack) and we don't have more problems with obesity and heart diseases than other countries who eat less, very much the contrary in many cases.
>>
>>7685853
People from countries like Italy and France usually have light breakfasts and large dinners. Brits and Americans have heavy breakfasts.
>>

>>
>>7686444
From Italy here.

When I was a kid, it was light breakfast, moderate lunch, moderate (but slightly lighter than lunch) dinner. Unless it's the weekend, then it's light breakfast, heavy lunch, moderate dinner. We tend to go a little overboard on weekends.

Nowadays, it's light breakfast, light lunch, heavy dinner.

My brekkie today was just a tartine. That's pretty typical for us.
>>
Hardly. You can eat once a day and possibly be even healthier. The idea of breakfast comes from "breaking" the "fast" that you make when you eat dinner at 6:00PM and wake up to eat about 13 hours later at 7:00AM. The thinking bases on having a constant source of energy throughout the day as having the best outcome.

Yet fasting has benefits that we're starting to realize, though only applicable to men. This appears to be tied to orexin as well as insulin response and growth hormone. I haven't read on it in a while but I read Eat Stop Eat by Brad Pilon. He cites his sources at the end, which is better than most. But the layman can never be a proper skeptic. He'd have to look at everything himself to be sure and gain the specialist knowledge for himself, so there's only infinite regress when you keep questioning. At some point, commoners have to stick to a credible source and trust in their authority. Just the consequences of dividing labor and specialization.

But really, you can eat one meal a day if it has all the calories and nutrients you need. There's no need to eat a certain number of times. The fitness industry has no morals or code of conduct so it's hard to just listen to anyone. At the end of the day, the basic conception of eating healthy has stood the test of time. Fruits, vegetables, fish, and meat etc.

I think the best attitude for the layperson is to learn a bit that he can be sure of, then leave the rest. Nitpicking on highly technical aspects should be left to the specialist but for whatever reason, everyone's eager to show everyone what they think they know after reading secondary and even worse, tertiary sources.

>>
I'm 6' 140 lbs and in decent shape. I only eat once or twice a day and never before 6pm.
>>
Yes and no.

To put it in simple terms, the food you eat gets converted into energy and building blocks. You're more active during the day, so the energy from the food gets used up and little of it is unused and converted to fat.

HOWEVER, when you sleep you regenerate better. To get swole you break and rebuild your muscles. So you want to have plenty of building blocks available in your regeneration phase.

So basically,

>if you want to stay slim, eat early
>if you want to grow SWOLE regardless of fat gain, eat before sleep
>if you want to be SWOLE but not fat you're in a pickle, try limiting yourself to protein shakes before bed but you'll be always gimping yourself

Personally I have a big protein shake for breakfast, normie food for lunch, a small sandwich in the evening and a small protein shake before bed. Sometimes egg/cheese instead of shakes.

I cringe, but I could stretch way out and have it make some sense.
Your metabolism can be changed to certain degrees, changing the way your body stores energy. Some of these changes occur naturally, with sleep cycles and normal eating patterns combined with activity patterns.
Just changing the times you eat too much shitty food isn't going to make you better off, though. Eating a meal just before bed isn't automatically and permanently going to mess with your sugar processes or anything like that. There is strong evidence that lack of good sleep is terrible for many metabolic functions, and spiking your blood sugar right before bed seems to me to be a great way to keep yourself from getting good sleep. There's probably some people out of the billions who sleep better that way, though.
Big breakfast, big lunch, big dinner, whatever. It's more about your own metabolism and what works for you.
If you have shit willpower and get into bad habits of eating nasty shit as dinner or nasty shit as breakfast, see about eating a bigger meal of whichever you tend to eat better and a smaller meal of whichever you tend to eat crappier. If you find yourself snacking on horrible stuff at certain times of the day where good food is extremely inconvenient, try changing your times so you are eating better stuff and not hungry at those times or get used to some shitty meal bars with decent nutrition or something like that.
>>7685865

Well if you ask me, lunch should be the main meal of the day. A big heavy breakfast makes me sluggish in the morning, and a huge dinner just sits in your guts digesting overnight. Problem with that is you don't get to take advantage of the available energy as it becomes available. You need food for the energy to find the motivation to move around and burn some of it off, so a huge dinner is probably the worst time for someone to eat a big meal
>>
>>7685853
It's true, but at the same time it isn't.

Purely going by the numbers, it's calories in and calories out. How you divide it across the day doesn't really matter.

Going by feeling, it matters. If you don't eat your breakfast and lunch, you're more easily tempted to pork out in the evenings. By eating "breakfast like a king" and "lunch like a prince", you're less likely to pork out with dinner and more likely to actually mind the calories.

If you Google "chocolate milk carton" you'll notice that all commercially sold chocolate milk uses skim.

Of course, if you buy powder, shavings, or syrup you can use whatever milk you want.

It also might have something to do with the 6 fucking teaspoons of sugar in there simply displacing a good volume of what would have been milk.

I generally skip breakfast and have something very small like a snack for lunch (ham sammitch at the most) and then I start at about 6pm and drink 7-10 beers and come home to a large meal and eat a couple plates...I realize that the beer and food at the end of the da have a lot of calories but since im skipping those other meals shouldn't it even out tfw im still fat as fuck
>>
>>7685853
yes and no, how much you weigh i just energy in vs energy out, however if you eat and drink more early in the day you will have more energy throughout the day increasing your energy out

People tell me I must have an amazing metabolism because I out-eat everyone else at dinner and still am a skinny skeleton.
Of course they don't know dinner usually is the only meal I have the entire day.
>>

Generally yes
If you eat most of your calories early, you'll spend the day burning them
>>
>>7685853
It would really work better if you did that with carbs proteins and fats instead.

Calories are calories.

If you want to lose weight, eat less. Timing isn't as important as amount. It's been about 3 days since I last ate, and combined with mild exercise, my fat ass is shedding pounds.

you're gonna die

no this is just silly

there is only a correlation here at best

That, or I lose weight.

Honestly, I'll take either outcome.

>Americans have heavy breakfasts
All the data says the exact opposite.
>>
>>7685863
I only eat once a day, a big meal. Is this meme true?
I'm kinda fat.
>>
>>7700982
You eat candy pretty much everyday. That may be something you want to cut out if you want to reduce your sugar or calorie intake.
>>
>>7700994

This. American's traditionally eat crap like

>a bagel
>a egg
>a bowl of cereal
>a donut

With a cup of coffee. That's if they eat anything at all, what with the super high stress no rest work weeks they pull.
>>
>>7685928
They pretty much force you to eat and drink at bootcamp. You better square those zero two glasses of water, motherfucker
>>
Only if you work on a farm and burn 8000 calories a day.

>here's your bag lunch recruits
>you better eat every single thing in there
>I don't care if you don't like raspberry flavored fruit bars you'll eat it
>and eat the Red Delicious apple last, it's rougher and will clean all of the ham sandwich out of your teeth
