My father used to call spaghetti and meatballs Big Ol' Balls & One Very Long Thin Cock. He would only cook two meatballs and have the kids rock-paper-scissors for it in brackets of three over the kitchen table, the balls kept under a translucent glass cake dish. I have 9 siblings and most of us grew up malnourished on account of this except Blind Susan, who was blind and intuited our movements (at least that's what we called it when we would whisper our moves a second before we threw our hands, as we felt bad for her for being blind) and died last year of congestive heart failure. As the priest lowered and read from the good book my father for a last rite flicked in two big meatballs, potentially the biggest he'd ever cooked, down into her grave like kids do marbles across schoolyard blacktop. Then he opened his fly and let uncoil a single three-foot long spaghetti strand. We were in tears as this occurred.
