This is actually one of my favorite dishes. There's this hidden Peruvian restaurant at home that does an amazing version of this dish! How come most Italian restaurants butcher pesto so bad these days?
>>

yeah I've had regular Pesto and the peruvian Pesto is so much better it's ridiculous. I've also made it a few different ways and you can vary it depending on how you like to a good degree.

try it before you judge. most peruvian food does not look appetizing at all but tastes amazing. I've had a lot of peruvian dishes that I went "the fuck...this looks weird." and then it tasted so amazing and like nothing else.

Most Americans know poutine as well. It's one of the stereotypes that nearly every American knows about us.

Poutine, Mounties, beavers, moose, maple syrup, cold weather, snow, about, eh, Canadian bacon, a French speaking province, overly polite, etc.

Like, one of the most common things people think of when you ask "what donyou know about Canada?"
>>

Where are you from? No one who was raised within a 30 mile radius of Cincinnati would refer to it as "garbage."

Tallarines verdes is literally no different than pesto + spaghetti.
My grandmother would add a little bit of butter if she ever made it (Lima, Miraflores). Fond memories of visiting her in her plantation-style home and hear her racist jokes about los indios (we're white)

Bistek al la pobre, lomo saltado and papas con huancayena are superior dishes.

I recommend Huancayena especially. Goes on pasta, sandwiches, et cetera. It's delicious.

Link? I'm not the anon you replied to but I can't find anything. Find it very hard to believe that someone actually compared restaurants across the Americas. Peru has some good food but their fine dining scene is still young compared to North America. Gaston Arcurio has been helping put peru on the map.

Sounds so good. They look remarkably like round mantou too. On mantou, I love to peel the outer skin off and eat that first, and I also love milk skin so dampfnudeln seem like they would be perfect to make/eat.

Not sure what to suggest for absolutely amazing dishes but I really like tang yuan with lots of different fillings. Red bean paste is my favourite but black sesame is also good, as is chocolate with nougat but that's obviously not traditional.

Actually, Chinese zha jiang mian is fucking amazing. The Korean one seems to be very well known but I much prefer the Chinese style made with yellow soy bean paste. I also prefer the Chinese noodles used compared to the Korean ones used, which are typically thinner and less slippery.

Gotta go with the fresh fried clams, clam cakes, and stuffies.

RI calamari is also pretty good (used to prepare around 50 plates of it a night and try a couple servings worth throughout each night), and I do have a soft spot for NY System.

Never cared for doughboys or Del's.

Saugy dogs are also pretty good, but they always sold them in those 5 pound boxes.

Well they are normally a lot bigger (like 2 fists) and filled with plum marmelade. You eat it with molten butter or vanilla sauce. Quite different to the east asian stuff and so delicious

it's a bit warmer, in tone and flavor, but close.
Nutmeg and Coriander are two things that would never end up in a modern day hamburger.
>>
>>7409003
>Is that blue rice?
Yes. Traditional to Nasi Kerabu, the rice is cooked with Clitoria flowers. (get your schoolgirl giggles out). The effect is similar to Saffron in making the rice aromatic - but a different tone.

>Is that an oatmeal stuff jalapeno?
It's fish.

>Is that a bowl of baby poop?
That's anchovy sauce. Sometimes it's hot.

>Is that an egg with a butthole?
No. It's a CURED egg (heavily salted).

>Is that a drumstick?
Yes.

Cincinnati chili is the absolute best
>>

And before you ask, there's also bean sprouts with chives, thinly sliced cured fish, some kerupuk (fried fish crackers)

... and what appears to be a very stiff coconut curry. (Orange, top right.) I may be wrong on that one, though. I'd need to poke it with a fork and maybe even taste it.

Sundubu jigae (sp?) is something I crave when it gets cold.

I was raised in Alabama and I can't really think of anything we ate that I don't see anywhere else, except maybe pic related. It's popular in the south though.

It's really good with Conecuh sausage and bacon. Even if you just sear the sausage and use it for flavor
