So my fridge was farely empty, I decided to make this bag of lentils. I started with some bacon, and I've some garlic and onion, a carrot and some cilantro.
And this is only the second time I've ever made lentils, can they be toasted like rice? Or is it a bad idea?
Cooking that bacon. Applewood smoked is my fave
Sorry bout the sideways pics. Saved half that fat, and I'm about to put the garlic in the pan with the rest
Pretty sure lentils will just disintegrate if you try and saute them after simmering.

Thanks for the tip, but I was thinking about sauteing them before I simmered them. Idk if it would even make a difference though.
In the onions go, a little dry thyme and bay leaf too
Doesn't look too glamorous right now, but I added some diced carrot, 5 cups water, cracked pepper +salt, the cooked bacon and 1 lb of lentils.
Thinking about the cilantro still, does anyone think that may be a bad idea?
