How do I know when it's done?

I always just broil them until browned or grill them but I boil them in beer or something first. I just like the outside crispier and not the boiled texture

When it's heated through. They're already cooked so you just need to heat them up.

Also before I boil them I poke a couple holes with a fork so the beer can get inside

On the subject of this very brand, my local grocery store had a "shipping order mistake" in my favor and they had to unload hundreds of packages of these brats. I picked up about 20 of them for $1 each and froze them all. That was over a year ago. Just finished the last one a week ago. Through Nazi food alchemy they taste the same now as when I bought them. This might indicate that they aren't entirely made of food.
