See I grew up in SEA so the smell of a durian is a heavenly scent to me.

I sort of understand why you guys would hate it though, to the untrained nose it MIGHT smell of trash or something unpleasant.

It also depends on what brand you use. I used to work at an asian shop and most thai people use Squid brand or Three Crabs Brand fish sauce

I had fresh durian in Thailand, where most are grown. It's a relatively expensive fruit, even straight from the source. It's also extremely heavy for what it is, and the husks are actually a growing problem cause there's SO much waste to dispose of/deal with.

To me, the durian tastes like a vanilla canteloupe. It's slightly stringy, quite mushy and soft, but you can still pull the segments out whole.
It did not smell like nasty feet / dumpster at all, it had a "propane/natural gas" smell and even a slight taste. The smell did penetrate bags and left a radius of smell when stored at my hotel.
Worth a try for sure, I liked it.
