I'm aware there was a time when much of the food in America was so dull that anyone looking for flavor turned to table condiments. But that hasn't been the case for a while, and ketchup at the table strikes me as an anachronism anywhere other than a diner or fast food place.

One time at this little diner I always go to for breakfast and bunch of Canadians were in there and when they got their food every single one of them drowned their meal in ketchup. The smell of seven or eight people pouring ketchup onto hot food in a small space literally made me gag.
