Big ass rotisserie oven.

You can make this at home with a good convection oven.

they use a fuck load of salt.
>>
>>7195896
Yes but how do they get it infused in the chicken so well?
>>
>>7195832
how do they always sell them for $2 cheaper than a raw whole chicken of the same weight? why can't I find a deal on chicken anymore? I miss the days when cooking was more economical.
>>
>>7195913
They probably brine or inject the chickens.

And yes, as >>7195860 said, they have big commercial rotisserie ovens to slow roast the birds.

>>7196003
Because they're most likely roasting the chickens they have in stock that are just about to expire and then selling them at cost or just over cost.
>>
>>7196003
Have you ever been arrested on Cops?

>nobody now give you no chicken...
>>
>>7195832
Now you too can make your own rotisserie chicken with a RONCO! Only 3 easy payments of $44.99!
>>
Best thing about rotisserie chicken is that once you've completely annihilated the carcase, you can use the remains to make some awesome tasting soup from them.
>>
The chicken comes in giant plastic bags filled with brining liquid. It's then put in the rotisserie for about 2 hours. After it's done it's slathered in a few different flavors from a couple giant buckets that haven't been washed in weeks.

I'm sorry, but does my grammar come across as incorrect to you? No. Cops address me as Sir un-ironically. Goober.
>>
>>7196074
Or you can sharpen the bones and use them for miniature punji pits on a toddler playground.
>>
>>7196055
Anyone here have one of those? I always wanted one but I didn't because Ronco.
>>
>>7196086
It must be embarrassing being a female and being called sir.
>>
>>7196112
There's one at my brother's house. I think it came from his mother in law. I've never seen it move.
>>
>>7196003
Because bulk pricing, yo.
>>
>>7196112
I don't have a Ronco, but I have one I found at the Salvation army that works very well. I can attest that it does take a looong time to rotiserie, but it makes chix exactly like the grocery.

I used to work in a grocery store deli. Those things come in packed in brine/whatever flavoring they have. They're submerged in the stuff for days. You take them out, sprinkle them with the flavoring salt, then put them on the giant rotisserie. They then drip juices onto the other chickens as they cook, so they stay juicy. It's mostly the brine though.
>>
>>7197033
Ok, well that accounts for one store's tactic for being competitive against other stores. Makes sense, but does anyone know if costco's whole raw chicken is more or less than the rotisserie ones? I'm starting to get several ideas as to why this happens now.
>>
>>7197051
anyone here a grocery store manager that can shed more light on the subject?
>>
>>7197039

i worked at a grocery store deli as well, but we didn't have a rotisserie. it's more the brining than anything else, i think, since we just pulled them out of the juices, washed them off a bit, and popped them in the oven we used for everything for like an hour.
>>
>>7195832
Can't beat those chickens. I basically rip the entire back off the chicken, including the thighs and legs, and leave the breasts for my gf and the cat.

This is the Poultry Board of America. This thread will self destruct in 5 minutes as this questioning of bird processing and sales is forbirdden.

If it's good enough for Peppermint Patty it's good enough for me.
>>
>>7195832
>tfw could eat an entire bird in one sitting

I'm not even fat
>>
>>7196003
They use old chickens before the sell by date so that they don't have to just toss them out.
>>
>>7195832
It's easy.
Buy whole chicken
Pat down with paper towel
Rub olive oil on said chicken
Add whatever spices you want
375 for around an hour/hour and a half depends on size of chicken

You don't have to be, they're pretty small. Half of it is bones.

>mfw local market started selling smoked chickens like these
>>
>>7195832

1) They have specialized equipment.

2) They take the time to brine the meat.

3) Economies of scale
>>
>>7195832
I can do it better and cheaper with a slowcooker.
